POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Capturing the experience of @taurusmountainrace in an Instagram caption is impossible, so I wrote a lot of words about it on Substack. Writing is such an important practice for translating the chaos of my brain into some form of sense. There’s a lot to say, and a lot I’m still working out. But hopefully it continues the conversation with myself, and perhaps others.

You know what’s more awkward about recording a video on your phone? Nothing.

But I got to do it so I can tell you about my magazine I run. It’s called Revelry Collection.

It’s a print-only outdoor culture magazine that’s goal is to get you off your phone and out your front door.

If you resonate with that, become a member today using the link in our bio to receive Volume 003 of our magazine coming this November.

A few scenes from my first day in Antalya, Türkiye. I’m incredibly jet lagged but so excited to finally be here, to be just days away from pressing start on the inaugural @taurusmountainrace. I’m staying in the Kaleiçi, or old town, situated just above the Mediterranean coast, with the mountains rising up just beyond.

I’ll be racing, but looking through a different lens than my typical style. That part of me is shifting, and I’m excited to explore it through a photo essay of the odyssey for the forthcoming issue of the Journal.

1,460km & 36,000m of climbing through the Taurus Mountains. We go on Wednesday.

(I also shared some more words over on Substack, along with a bike & gear check, if you’re interested in a deeper dive.)

My good friend @jlointheflow recently launched a magazine called the Mountain Athlete Journal. It’s 120 pages of incredible storytelling at the intersection of movement and meaning.

While our magazines are different, we share a central mission to get people outside reading instead of scrolling.

Even though I run my own outdoor magazine, I am still telling you about MAJ because I believe that in the tight knit world of outdoor publishing it’s better to support each than to compete. I am not getting paid to tell you this, I am telling you this cause I personally love high quality outdoor storytelling.

Independent outdoor magazines like these exist because of our readers. Support print and pick up one of these magazines today.

10 week until ski season begins…

Send this to that friend who is already counting down the days. I know I am…

I can’t wait to hop on to lookout lift again and see the 360 degree views of the Sawtooth mountains. Just keep dreaming of snow, it will be here before we know it.

Smoke n’ Fire 2026!

A huge congrats to everyone who took on this incredible route– it’s no small undertaking!

One of my favorite things about this race is the culture surrounding it– the grit, adventure, camaraderie, encouragement, and genuinely great people that make this race so special.

Matthew Fairbrother finished first in an astounding 42 hours, 27 mins 🤯

Jackson Long rode in for second at 53 hours, 25 mins

Tyler rode in for third at 58 hours, 41 mins

A special thanks for all our friends who watch the dots, check in, ask about the race, who support Tyler (and me), who show up in every way from dog sitting the boys, giving us a home base in Boise, who let me ramble about the what might be happening along the route and so much more- we love you!!

Mountain Athlete Journal – Summer 2026
I’m honored to have my work featured in the inaugural issue of Mountain Athlete Journal, alongside a story written by my good friend and outdoorsman Eli Isaac about our unforgettable elk hunting adventure in the Wyoming backcountry.
What began as a hunt became transformed into a journey through rugged country, early mornings, long climbs, shared conversations, and a deeper appreciation for wild places. My role was to document those moments as they unfolded naturally, while Eli captured the experience in words.
A sincere thank you to Jackson Long and everyone at Mountain Athlete Journal for believing in our work. I’m proud to be a small part of this first issue and excited to see where the journal goes from here.
