Opened the month with @kansasauthors club at a small writing conference. What a wonderfully talented community to be surrounded by here in Kansas.

Poem from our first night’s workshop. Might play with it more later 🌻 by @jlunt2

One year later and this is what my “office” looks like.
You can now read about my first year as a published author on Substack (🔗link in bio).

How many changes do you think we’ll see in this next year?? by @jlunt2

Did you know my books have discussion questions included with them?

This question was the one I truly started with when writing this story. How easy is it to see where things start to unravel? Can we only ever see it looking back? Or do we ever know in the moment? When I asked Caroline, her answer was that first flashback.

But that is only one (character’s) opinion. As an outsider looking in, when do you think it started? And as a follow up, at what point do you think their relationship was no longer salvageable? Or do you think they could still reconcile?

Nothing tempts me away from drafting my WIP like a good map. Maybe because it makes the research feel like an adventure.

Promise I’m still writing 😉 by @jlunt2

One of the fun surprises I found while researching was the origins of grapefruit! Growing up, I remember my grandfather eating one of these every day for breakfast. It felt special to learn the original grapefruits came from Barbados, like a little extra connection to him.

I also couldn’t help but draw the parallels of newlyweds becoming their own family unit like an island. Somedays it feels like paradise, but it’s also easier to feel exposed to the harsher elements of life!

What do you think? Were there things your book club noticed?

Not a lot of words written, but we still had a great summer! Now it’s time to finish all our back to school prep. Regular author office hours start again Wednesday. It’s almost time to write again ✍🏻 🍎 📚 by @jlunt2

If you’ve read through the Afterword then you already know my answer to this question!

I’m related to a small handful of people who were involved in the Salem Witch Trials. But I’m the direct descendant of Samuel Martin of Andover, someone who accused others of witchcraft then later signed a petition which essentially allowed the accused to return home on bond instead of suffering in the prisons as they awaited trial.

I sincerely hope I would not have followed in his initial footsteps. And I hope I would’ve signed the same petition without hesitation.

Have you had this discussion with your book club?
