someone recently asked me why i sign off on”love you. mean it” to people i’ve never met. this video is my answer.

there’s also a bit more …

when love is a practice instead of a prize, something changes when you lose the person. you stop losing the love when you lose them. you can walk away from a friendship, a lover, a place, a family member that was costing you and still keep every bit of what you felt for it. the love is yours. you nurtured it. i doesn’t leave.

i can love something completely and still know it’s not for me. that used to feel like contradiction. now it feels like freedom. i get to keep my whole heart—full, open, and overflowing—and my boundaries at the same time.

we were taught love is scarce, so we ration it, and clutch the people and things we’ve spent it on long past the point it serves us. i don’t subscribe to scarcity anymore. love might be the most renewable energy we have.

so if you are grieving someone or something that couldn’t meet you, keep the love. release them. both things can be held equally in two separate hands, and feel diametrically opposed.

love you. mean it.

there are so many reasons why i shouldn’t be sitting here, in the home that i had built … yet here i am.

i haven’t really said much about my journey out on these here socials, but as i celebrate FIVE YEARE of this journey and home, i said F*CK IT. i have so much gratitude for what i’ve done and even more love for the community of love and support surrounding me. besides, the only reason not to share is fear-based and we don’t do that over here.

so here is a bit about my journey and a few things i learned along the way.

love you. mean it. xx.

finding your people isn’t always easy. the hard part is admitting the ones you translate yourself the most for usually aren’t them.

once you realize it, you can’t go back. the veil is lifted. you notice the friendships you shrink within to keep things smooth. the tables you sit at where your humanity is a topic you defend like a dissertation. the love that only works because you’re carrying it.

you have a choice … keep showing up to be misinterpreted or stop.

there’s a tradeoff inherent in that choice. pulling closer to the folks who fully see you means grieving the ones who refuse to. some of those bonds had years in them. some had real love. yet, they asked you to translate every single time.

so here’s the invitation, be the one who never asks someone to translate themselves into a version legible to you. learn their language. see them for who they are. the first step toward building new worlds together. one untranslated relationship at a time.

love you. mean it.

i spent years collecting compliments like these. so composed. so strong. so easy to have around.
they felt like proof i was doing it right.

what i didn’t see was what they cost me.

every time i pressed a feeling down to stay composed, every time i didn’t ask for help so i could stay the strong one, i got a little more praise and a little less of me.

my knowing suffered. my trust in self.

the people saying it meant well. i was the one paying.

if one of these compliments feels familiar, ask what it’s cost you. that’s the first step toward trusting your self again.

episode 11 goes deeper. it’s on youtube, 🔗 in bio.
if this one stings, come find me.

love you. mean it.

you already know. most of us override our knowing.

trust in self starts with three voices: head, heart, and gut. head tracks the risk. heart defines the horizon. gut reads the signal before it has words. trust in self is all three in conversation, with each one weighing before you act.

this is the second trust literacy primer on substack, 🔗 in the bio.

my invitation this week: pick one decision and run it past all three.

love you. mean it.

when you’ve spent your life getting everyone else gathered, turning that attention on yourself feels selfish.

indulgent.

like you’re taking something that belongs to somebody else.

that is an old track.

somewhere back there, being useful became the way you earned your place. giving was the rent we paid to exist in the spaces and places we desired to be in.

that was 100p wrong, and i had to learn that for myself.

i had to practice it by asking what i needed before i asked what the room needed. i started spending my best thinking on my own life first. it felt strange for a while. then it felt absolutely right.

the giving doesn’t stop. it gets better. people can tell when your generosity comes from fullness and when it comes from fear of what happens if you stop.

if you’re still barefoot, start with one pair. my invitation this week is to make one decision this week made for you first.

that’s self-trust, one decision at a time. if you want help finding where to start, come find me.

love you. mean it.

it took a long time to shine this bright.

i bet that folks who know me IRL would describe me as someone never lacking confidence.

they are not wrong. i earned it, despite being told to modulate, to put others’ comfort ahead of my own, that i intimidate people … that i am too loud. too much.

i downplayed and muted my perception, the speed of my CPU, my ability to read and channel energy, to feel, see patterns. and, when i did trust my power, i used it to stabilize out there … the spaces and places never designed with me in mind.

well, f✨ck ‘em cuz i am one bad b🌸tch!

you see, i KNOW who i am.

my journey to reclamation has turned me inward–directing my knowing towards me and my life. true self-care on a trillion.

look, i’m not everybody’s cup of tea.

in this one precious life, i’d rather be so boldly and brilliantly myself. dare to be so FULL of myself that my people can find me.

want to join me?

trust in self first. every other kind of trust starts there.

love you. mean it.

trust is a verb.
it gets built, between people and at scale through six conditions you can name and see.

the primer is on substack. 🔗 in the bio.

if you’re the one who’s always fine, there’s a moment that made you that way.

nobody is born reading the room before anyone speaks. nobody starts out never needing anything or anyone. you learned it somewhere along the way, on a specific day, from a specific person or persons or place, when trust broke and nobody came to repair it. the adaptation was smart. it also hid the spot.

so here’s a way back to it. pick one thing you’ve always called just how you are. the over-preparing … the never asking … the easy to be around. then ask when it started. you’re looking for a location, the place where trust left. trust in self. trust in others. trust in the system.

you don’t have to fix anything once you’ve located it. it’s like my boy GI JOE said … knowing is half the battle. so, finding it is the first act of trust in yourself. it says: something happened here, and i believe me.

EP 10 of SIGNAL OVER NOISE goes deeper on where trust breaks and how we transmute the wound into our power. it’s on YT. 🔗 in the bio.

if you locate it and want some company, i’m here.

love you. mean it.

your scars are beautiful.
the ones from this life, and the ones handed down before you were born. every one is proof of a life lived, and a place your power is waiting.

trust in self is how you turn toward them. this week’s SIGNAL OVER NOISE episode shows you where to start.

most of us have spent years trying to fix the part of ourselves that feels everything first and loudest.

this series asks you to do something new with it.

i was watching shrinking on the treadmill this week. an elder tells the younger one, who’s carrying a lot of shame about his scars, that scars are a beautiful thing. they mean you’ve lived. i loved that. a scar is what a wound becomes when you’ve been in relationship with it.

the power comes from how you turn toward the wound.

over the next few weeks we’re naming the wounds one by one. what we swallowed whole to belong. the stories we learned to tell about our own lives. what it costs to be the one everyone leans on. each one has power waiting on the other side.

all of it runs on trust. in yourself first, then your people, then the world we build together.

episode 10 of SIGNAL OVER NOISE is on youtube now, link in bio. follow along for the series.

if you already know which wound is yours, share with me in the comments. i’ll share mine too. that’s where we start.

love you. mean it.

Trust is easy to talk about. Building it is harder. For Jen Randle ’06, that question has shaped a career across strategy, culture, leadership, and systems transformation.

Her work is a reminder that meaningful change starts with examining what is not working, rebuilding trust, and creating something stronger.
