As some of you know, May 15, 2024 became the day my life, once again, forever changed, ending a 7 year relationship with my domestic partner. Over two years later, two convictions, stay away orders and a protection order, life still holds the subtle glimpses and purposeful gestures of the MANY aspects of DV/IPV. For anyone who has experienced this, you know it’s not just the physical abuse, it’s the financial, the emotional, the manipulative and the psychological toll not only by the abuser, but of the court of public opinion, that continues. Some days, it takes a level of energy I didn’t even know I had to face another fight for my rights, safety and wellbeing. But most days, I live in the gentle gratitude of just being able to breathe, literally and figuratively. Please join us on October 24 for this event.

Stephanie has over 35 years of experience in the nonprofit sector having served in executive roles in local, regional, and national organizations as a fundraiser, philanthropic advisor, funder, and community-builder. She served as Chief Engagement Officer at Seattle Foundation, a community foundation with over $2 billion in assets, where she advised high net worth individuals on their philanthropy. As the former CEO of United Way California Capital Region, she led an anti-poverty program that received a $10 million gift MacKenzie Scott. She was Executive Director of Chan Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital Foundation where she launched a successful capital campaign that raised over $125 million, and served as an Assistant Dean of Advancement at UC Davis Health System.

In 2023, Stephanie founded Touchstone Leadership Group, a consulting and project management firm that partners with organizations and institutions to increase their capacity to drive impact and social change. She is an adjunct instructor at Pacific University of Oregon’s Masters in Nonprofit Leadership Program where she teaches board governance and collaborative leadership, and leadership and community engagement.

Stephanie is a founding board member of Orchid Capital Collective, nonprofit impact investing organization that is investing in innovative solutions to Black maternal health and well-being that build wealth and ensure the future of birth justice for generations to come.

A graduate of Douglass College, Rutgers University, Stephanie has a degree in philosophy and a certificate from Harvard Business School’s Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management. She is certified as a nonprofit board governance consultant by BoardSource. A proud enrolled member of the Shawnee Nation, she lives in Seattle, WA with her family. by @jmarieroach

The love that is shown, the love that is given, and the love received….
The opportunity to not only be on the other side of what life was, but to step into what is, is a blessing that cannot be expressed in words, but is deeply understood.
To be in the presence of this great community, these amazing BLACK MEN AND FATHERS, and to be honored in this way by @urbanfdc @urbanfamdc was the gift I didn’t know I needed. Then to follow it in celebration of my GURL, @thehabibabankston and @dfscolumbus with the homie @rhiannc was literally the filling of this cup that we often speak of, but rarely feel. I am beyond grateful and honored to have the memories of the last few days at the forefront of my spirit. Alhamdulillah by @jmarieroach

My life has been absolutely blessed with amazing beautiful. Regardless of what the future may hold, it will always be ROOTTed in the depth of commitment, love and integrity we hold for one another and for our community.
We deserve joy, we deserve the sacredness of the moments we share.
Liberation does not come without cost. I choose ease over easy…….and I choose them, every time.
