It’s been a long week but we appreciate everyone for following along as we focus on #CenteringBlackMamas this year for #BMHW20! •

We have our last events taking place on Facebook at 6PM, we’ll be premiering a short documentary called “Risk Factor” by Barento Taha and featuring ROOTTs own Jessica Roach. •

We also have the pleasure of director Barento Taha joining us for a live Q&A session at 6PM on our Instagram page after the short documentary premieres, so come with thoughts & questions! #ROOTTRJ #BlackMamasMatter

🗣🗣🗣This right here...when people are trying to figure out why the disparity is so disparate you HAVE TO include ALLLLLLL of this...we cannot have transformative conversations about improving outcomes without understanding THIS... @jmarieroach reminded me of my why and more importantly that I am not powerless at the bedside.... Thank you @blackmamasmatter for a great webinar!!✊🏾🙌🏾 #BMHW20

It is still #BlackHistoryMonth so we decided to learn more about doulas in the black community!🖤❤💚
Real Moms Too had the pleasure of interviewing @jmarieroach Co-Founder and CEO of @roottrj to discuss the benefits of utilizing a doula service. 🖤❤💚
"I loooooooved the episode about doulas!! It cleared up so much for me and to know that it is affordable is such a relief. I'm going to start looking into them now!!"

Shout out to my long distance doula and wise elder 👏🏾Jessica Roach 👏🏾 for teaching me “9 months in, 9 months out” as a way to experience this unexpected and beautiful second child in my life.
I’m celebrating my 9 months out with a yoga retreat in Morocco. 🤩 ⠀
⠀
I booked this trip last year when I was 7ish months pregnant and worried about how Baby Girl would limit the dreams I had for my life. HA. God’s got jokes. She has been *the* catalyst for all I have embarked on in 2019 and ya girl is just getting started. She ignited a ferocious spark in me to expand my life and stop playing small. She is definitely the reason you are reading this right now. The real MVP. 👶🏽💜 Wheels up tomorrow morning. 🛫 No offense, y’all are all muted 🙃. I don’t know if I’ll post or not, but if I do it’ll be here. ⠀
⠀
(Pics from packing this past weekend. I was tempted, but no Baby Girl, you cannot come 😂.)
⠀
Love y’all 💜🧘🏾‍♀️✌🏾

I promise we did not create this organization so I could sit around all day and hold the babies. 😂😂😂🖤🤷🏽‍♀️ However, these two are a little different. They are babies of our staff and my direct doula babies, which I don’t get to do often. The big man on my lap, his birth was actually attended by @moniquedcrystal because I was traveling back from something???? I walked in right after.

And, this is part of our testimony and how we do. We always have each other’s backs.
Great day at Nationwide Children’s Hospital for The Big Latch!! This is how we #ROOTTRJ #WorldBreastfeedingWeek2019 #Blackwomendobreastfeed #ROOTTCLCs #wewillhavejoy

Thank you to the policy experts and coalition partners who participated in our #FacebookLive panel discussion on Friday about the findings of our Statehouse Scorecard: Kalitha Williams of @PolicyMattersOhio, Jessica Roach of @roottrj, Jaime Miracle of @prochoiceoh, and Linda Kanney of @nc100bwcoc. The work these women do to push for gender equity in Ohio is truly indispensable.

The panel was moderated by WPPN's Executive Director, @Lizclarkebrown. Watch the full recording of our panel discussion at our #linkinbio
