October 24 is a special date for me. My wife would have celebrated her birthday.
And it happens to be the day I'll open my Latinx Portraits (@latinxportraits) series with a celebration, which I couldn't have imagined hosting anywhere more fitting than Manolo's Bakery @manolosbakeryclt

Manolo gives back to our community, and has a long history of working and advocating for immigrants. To hold this exhibition at his space is an honor. I'm grateful to Manolo for opening his doors to me and this project.

And a celebration it will be. We're coming together to honor our community and our stories, Latinx Portraits: Somos muchas historias.

There will be music, small bites, and good coffee. And in the spirit of my wife, I hope there will be some dancing too.

Attending the Show: Die Schönheit der Couture

Location: 128 S Tryon St.

- This is was such an intimate and unique showcase of couture designs and handmade art. I got to support fashion friends and watch new and established designers light up as their work graced the runway.

- Highlight of the night is meeting so many wonderful people including the amazing Gratzia Walker (I hope I spelled that right) - a fashion icon with FABULOUS bedazzled boots that called me over to her when I walked in.
She is such a sweet and loving soul, I am so blessed to have gotten to share the night with such a powerful woman.
She is a WW2 refugee smuggler who helped her dad transport those in need from Italy under Mussolini’s law. We got to bond throughout the night and we shared tears, laughs and ooos and awws as the show began.

I just love the energy of the runway. The excitement and collaboration between producers, designers, HMUA, models, photographers and everyone else involved is amazing!

Busy week ahead with fittings, castings, photo shoots and MORE RUNWAY… Can’t wait!
