I didn’t really take “before” pictures when I started this journey. I have mostly always avoided photos as much as possible. And I didn’t really consciously take progress photos in a “damn, I’m looking super different” sort of way -but mostly I took them along the way when I actually felt a change in one way or another. When my clothes started to feel loose. When I needed to go down another size. When the smaller size suddenly felt too big again. And for a while, the only change I noticed was in my face.

This has been way more than just losing weight for me. I had a whole seriously fucked up relationship with food I needed to tackle and a lot of funky mental health things to deal with when it came to food and my body.

I’m proud of myself - and if you know me, you know that’s not a feeling I’m familiar or comfortable with. I set out to do the thing and fix the issues and I’ve managed to mostly do that. I still have work to do, but over the last 9 months (I started November 19th) I have been making the changes and sticking to them. My follow-through is generally abysmal with this sort of thing which is how I got to that starting point to begin with.

Anyway. There have been two major downsides to all of this:
1. So much of my hair has fallen out. Making this the 3rd “event” in the last 4 years to cause major hair loss.
2. Eating my feelings when I’m sad or to reward myself somehow has turned into BUY SOME BOOKS!!! Bad day? A book will make you feel better! Happy day? OMG celebrate with a new book! My poor bank account is weeping. But hey, it’s still the healthier option for myself.

If I have annoyed TF out of you babbling about protein or whatever, I do apologize and I appreciate your restraint in not knocking me flat on my ass. I will try to be less annoying. 😅

I was out with my mom today and she said she wanted to take me shopping. Far be it from me to question her spending habits, so shopping we went!

And you get another lame before and after documentation.

The left is from 2021 - it was our date night at Cooper’s Hawk. My then husband told me I looked gorgeous and I believed him. 🫠

The right is from the dressing room today after I tried on a bunch of things that were somehow all too big and I had to ask to swap them for smaller sizes. That has never happened before. I’ve never been able to try on clothing without crying or getting frustrated or hating myself. 85lbs down and I’m in all new territory.

The GLP has been life-changing for me in so many ways, but I ALSO recommend shedding the weight of the husband because that does WONDERS for a person. 🙌😂

Shut up, Ernest, the women are talking
We’ve got this shit under control!

I was SO excited to see this again. This cast is phenomenal. @jackieburnsnyc is hands down my favorite Madeline. 1000/10. Stunning. No notes. @gailbennettacts was on for Helen and she was incredible. Absolutely nails the role. @kenmarino is hysterically funny as Ernest. Delightful. @nasiathomas are you even real?! That voice. Blown away.
The rest of the cast is crazy talented, too. This show is such a spectacle and it’s so much fun to see.

I had to drive up to Columbus for this one because sadly, there isn’t a Cincy stop on the tour. If there had been, I’d be sat for every show. I’d make it weird. 😂

Anyway - go see this cast on tour if it comes to your city. You will love them and the show.

🎧 Nightwork - Nora Roberts
I had only ever read this one once before … it was honestly never my favorite. It feels different from other Nora books - I think it’s the male main character aspect. But, I still enjoyed revisiting it as an audiobook.

Breakneck Bay - Faith Gardner
This gets an award for the most clueless main character. Very predictable but fairly entertaining. Not my favorite book by this author but a quick read. I was waiting for this to delve into a specific disorder diagnosis but then I remembered it was taking place in the 80s.

Went to see Heist at Playhouse in the Park. I love this theatre, it’s so nice. Act 1 was a little slow for me - too much exposition. But, Act 2 was a lot of fun. Great cast and I can honestly say, I was surprised by how everything unfolded.

🎧 Whistler - Ann Patchett
This was wonderful. I’d actually never read any of this authors books. I actually met her once at her bookstore in Nashville - I didn’t know it was her at the time - but we chatted for a minute while waiting for the bathroom and after the person inside didn’t come out for awhile, she let me use the employee bathroom instead.🤣

Anyway.

This book was fantastic. Very character driven and the relationship between Daphne and Eddie (her stepfather for a short time) was so sweet - both in the past and when they reconnected many years later.

Highly recommend. I will say, I had to bump this up to 2.5x for the narration to feel like anything resembling a normal speed to my brain.

This had a bizarre, unbelievable element that I’m still not sure about, but overall I really enjoyed this one. A quick easy read after the epic undertaking of The Pirate Queen 😅

I don’t know that these before and after comparisons will ever not shock me. The photo on the left popped up in my Facebook memories today. It’s from a comic expo in Cincy that I worked for HPB years ago. Possibly not my heaviest weight, but one of the most crushing photos I’ve come across. On the right is from about 2 weeks ago.

The expo was so much fun, but I couldn’t even walk the next day because my back and knees were so messed up. The lack of pain I’m in now compared to then is astounding.

And that’s a huge win because I was miserable.
