Very happy to be showing this as part of Points of Encounter at @andgallery_ 5th - 30th September in Edinburgh.

This painting very much reminds me of the North East coast where I grew up, along with my travels around the Northumberland and Scottish coastline. Places I return to often.

Some visitors to Open Studios a few years ago commented on my work reminding them of a book they’d recently read, “ The Offing” which interestingly is based around the north east coast, the distant place just on the horizon.

Thank you to Adam for his beautiful documentation.

Excited to have been selected to take part in @andgallery_ Open Call Exhibition, Points of Encounter, running 5th - 30th September.

Bringing together artists from across the globe, Points of Encounter celebrates the unexpected connections that emerge between different materials, processes and perspectives. While each artist brings a distinctive visual language, together the works form a rich dialogue across contemporary practice. Working across ceramics, painting, sculpture, collage, assemblage, glass, drawing, printmaking, photography and mixed media, the exhibition reflects the breadth and diversity of contemporary artistic practice.

Exhibiting artists:

Angela Lane, Arjan Van Dal, Barbara Jenner, Cameron Lings, Christine Sloman, Clare Lane, Dan Hamer, David Rhys Jones, Deborah Boyd Whyte, Emma Baker, Frea Buckler, Geoff Porter, Gilly Langton, Harriet White, Helen Ireland, Imogen Andrews, Jane Bottery, Jo Fleming Smith, Jo Ganter, Jonathan Lawes, Kirsty Bell, Kristian Jon Larsen, Livia Marinescu, Lou Taylor, Lucy Jones, Maria Wojdat, Mark Watkins, Matthew Richardson, Miriam Steinberg, Myriam Jiménez, Olivia Jones, Orlanda Broom, Rebecca Griffiths, Rhona Fleming, Sharon Quigley, Sophie Southgate, Steven Cox, Valeriya Isyak, Vic Wright, Wilfried Nijhof, Youn Kyung Cho, and Yumi Bancon.

So pleased to be included in this show about colour. Thank you to @jennysutton99 and @swseanwilliams for inviting me to take part. 75 artists each painting and naming a colour close to their heart.

We met on Sunday and the conversation was gorgeous. Colour means so much to each of us and our processes inform each panel. Individually interesting, collectively sublime.

Blue Skies was my offering. A colour informed by last summer in Portugal and the colour around my home and studio as the sun goes down. The name inspired by a concept in meditation that even if you can’t see it through the clouds the blue sky remains. A thing I return to.
