I got my heart broken this year, big time. The experience totally wrecked me. While it was happening I couldn’t stop thinking about all the ways I’d let myself be stepped on, in both this relationship and in others. Made from porcelain, this piece is an analogy for my body – strong yet fragile, white and fleshy pink, a necklace I was given the day I was born hangs from a piercing in the stool. 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘪𝘥 and 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘵, both things I have been called by people I’ve loved, are inscribed on the stool where the Rubbermaid brand name would usually sit.

Though this work is about me, I hope lots of people can relate to it. Plus, on the bright side, I made a lot of great sad sappy playlists in the last several months.

Very excited that the tire recently found a forever home (and no longer has to live in my basement).

Jocelyn Reid ❤️ Spring 2026 Innovate Grant Honorable Mention (Art) → I’m interested in how, in still-life, depictions of inanimate objects have historically been able to highlight societal values and symbols of impermanence, wealth, and success. By using that rhetoric . . . I’m interested in highlighting the things that contemporary society finds value in.

Elated to finally share the news that I’m the new tenure-track assistant professor of art at Scripps College in Claremont, California. I am so pumped to be running the ceramics program at this historic school.

SoCal folks, let’s be friends. Everybody else, please come see me, we can go and touch the ceramics collection together.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me to get to this place - you know who you are, and you mean the world to me. by @jocelynreid

Jocelyn Reid ❤️ Spring 2026 Innovate Grant Honorable Mention (Art) → Jocelyn Reid is a ceramic and mixed media artist from Treaty 7 Territory in Canada. Working from real and fabricated objects, she carefully alters recognizable forms through intentional distortions in shape, color, and material. Reid maintains a deep dedication to craft and traditional sculptural processes, with casting at the core of her practice.

A break from our regular programming for a quick love letter to my time in Arkansas.
Four years in 20 slides is inadequate, and it doesn’t capture the ups and downs and goods and bads, but this place was made shiny and wonderful by all the people I got to meet while I lived there (and really, this is a love letter to all of them). Not everyone is pictured, not everyone is tagged (I ran out of room), but I love you all.

In no particular order:

1. Appreciated the hoggy decor
2. The first mold I made in Arky (11 parts)
3. Fell in love with Roomie, the cat who would show up and meow outside my door, then spend hours at my house before going home to his owners who I never even met
4. Saw some very nice sunsets
5. Made some very serious silly work
6. Fell in love with the grad cohort
7. Met my sweet pal Jojo
8. Fell in love with Iowa City
9. Thumbs upped
10. Applauded primary colors
11. Made Paul get in the elevator with me and my stinky coffin
12. My family came down for my show (this photo still makes me tear up when I look at it)
13. Fell in love with my thesis committee (though this photo is missing the wonderful Carris Adams)
14. The Remainders at Carletta + Holly’s gorgeous thesis show
15. Threw some excellent pizza parties
16. Was judged by Frankie, loved by Vic
17. Perfect, delicious, incredible Pizzeria Ruby with the perfect, delicious, incredible ceramics crew
18. Erin doing a crossword right before the bronze pour, cool as a cucumber
19. Spent some time in the banana room with Ibby and August and Paul
20. My incredible Advanced Ceramics class at the opening of the show they organized this year, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘚𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘭𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘦𝘪𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 by @jocelynreid

This piece is part of a new body of that work comes from a longstanding obsession with still life paintings (and, a continuation of my fascination with gloves).

The series focuses on marketing schemes aimed at women. 𝘗𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘺 𝘎𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 is based on a product that was launched in 2020. It actually appeared on a German investment reality show called Die Höhle der Löwen, kind of like Shark Tank, and someone liked it so much that they invested 35,000 euros into the company. The product: a hot-pink disposable glove that women could use to remove menstrual products without getting blood on their hands. The Pinky Glove aligned with your average pink tax, costing about twice the price of an average disposable glove. The charms on this are removable and interchangeable, so they can change with each installation.

Some booth photos from last week at EXPO with @redarrowgallery and @anniebritohodgin 🥹♥️ Chicago, I love you.

From Red Arrow:

For Expo Chicago 2026, Red Arrow presents GOOD GIRL, a dual exhibition featuring painter Annie Brito Hodgin and sculptor Jocelyn Reid.
