“I am incredibly grateful for and excited to announce my opportunity to attend OU this fall, an institution whose legacies are interlaced with many Native histories and cultures today. In the coming years, above all, I am eager to continue growing as a scholar, museum professional, and ceramicist. A major goal throughout this program and beyond is to continue my curatorial work specializing in collaborative, community-centric, and place-based projects that intertwine knowledge from Indigenous-made works in museum collections with revitalization networks of Indigenous lifeways and languages.

UArk’s Art History in Arts of the Americas program prepared me for this step toward doctoral research in many ways, but mainly by grounding me in relationships that shaped my ways of thinking. I would like to express deep gratitude to all my professors, including Ashley Holland, Ana Pulido Rull, Jennifer Greenhill, and Jill Ahlberg Yohe in Art History and Jeannie Hulen, Mathew McConnell, and Jocelyn Reid in Ceramics who provided constructive advice and unwavering encouragement. I would like to express my appreciation for my cohort members Skyler Dunbar, Isabella Hernandez, Michelle Kamanga, and Aili Waller as well as program graduates Ibby Ouweleen and Djamila Ricciardi for providing constant reassurance. I would like to thank Laurel Lamb at the University Museum, as well as Serena Caffrey and Aaron Turner for inviting me to the curatorial project Resounding Sovereign Expressions—all of whom carved out a place for me to thrive upon arriving at UArk. And finally, I would like to thank my Osage Nation community for ensuring my path in education and providing me with a place to always return.”
