MEET THE CURATOR - JOCHEM LEEGSTRA

Jochem Leegstra is creative director and founder of ANDSTAAT and co-initiator of the platform THE NEW STIJL. Working at the intersection of art, design and culture, he develops conceptual and visual projects across both autonomous and institutional contexts. His practice brings together creative direction, cultural research and visual communication, creating connections between different fields and forms of cultural production.

For SIGNAL ’26, Jochem contributes both as a curator and through ANDSTAAT as publication partner. His perspective helps shape the selection of makers, while the publication extends the project beyond the three-hour exhibition itself.

In ‘Eyes of Gold’, we invite some of our favourite tastemakers with a golden eye to select three works from the Bisou collection. Each guest explains their choices and shares how these pieces might live together in their space.

For the sixth edition of this series, we invited Jochem Leegstra, co-founder of …,staat and now @andstaat, a new studio for creative collaboration in all its forms. Jochem has long been a driving force in Dutch design: outspoken, ever-present, and endlessly generous with his energy and ideas. He’s also the initiator of @thenewstijl, a bold platform celebrating the richness of Dutch creativity. A connector, a visionary, and never not moving (and talking) ;).

Introducing the new visual identity for the Prince Claus Fund, a foundation dedicated to the transformative power of culture.

With the objective of introducing the Fund and it’s mission to a new and broader audience, we looked to bring the stories of their incredible global network of artists and change-makers to the fore.

Developing a sharpened strategy and narrative, and a bold, digitally focused identity — we worked closely with the Prince Claus Fund team to explore and articulate what culture means to us today — and why we depend on it as a force for change, now more than ever.
