POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Been quietly working away on something very exciting and special to me. @soundofmovement_ is a new project I’ve put together, something very unlike anything I’ve done before. Featuring both contemporary jazz and contemporary dance we have recorded an EP of original music (releasing this autumn), and collaboratively created a live show. Please follow our new account to keep up to date on what we have been up to, upcoming live shows (EP launch show soon…) & music releases. Lots of very exciting things coming up. It’s my first time bringing my original compositions to life in this way, and sharing them with the world. Feel so unbelievably lucky to do it alongside such amazing creatives ❤️ Watch this space 👀 by @joelroccasax

A slightly different post to what we usually use this account for…

But after a successful run of workshops before the summer, we are launching our autumn workshop series 🎶

4 band workshops going deep into the music, listening sessions online and a live gig for participants in December to round it off.

A practical, in-depth jazz programme for adult musicians who want to understand the music, internalise repertoire and improvise with greater freedom.

Throughout the sessions we will work on a jazz standard and together break down exactly what it takes to internalise it - melody, harmony, key centres, chord tones, language, improvisation and most importantly how to practice.

Held at Jackson’s Lane Theatre in Highgate, with the gig in Crouch End.

Get in touch if you’re interested.

Let’s go England! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

The smoothest end to a drum solo - we’ve been sneaking football quotes into our jazz gigs since the World Cup began ⚽️🏟️

We turned the @thedustyknuckle into a jazz club on a hot & sunny bank holiday weekend. So much fun to work with them on this, they are such an amazing team. And our absolute favourite go to bakery & pizzeria 🍕🎷

A few lovely moments from a trip down to @sandyhillarts in Dorset in April. The sun came out and it was such a lovely day to have a play 🌞✨
