Some lockdown thoughts. ☁️
I have been toying with this idea of ‘age and time’ recently. At 27, the inherent social pressures to make certain moves (financial, career, relationship), by a certain age, with a certain person, haven’t ever really affected me acutely but I am well aware that they exist and how they might have shaped my decisions on a lower level.

I’ve been trying to navigate the ideas of being fully present and ‘living for now’ vs making decisions/sacrifices now for ‘Future self’ or how they can coincide. 🤔

Of late, I’ve found myself excited by this ‘before 35’ idea though, a new found energy to dedicate and apply myself to a single something (…anything) that drives a meaningful purpose for the next handful of years. Not a pressure of “I should” but with a youthful excitement of “I want to” or “I get to”. To build a foundation brick by brick and be proud of its honest and authentic integrity.

The crux of this idea for myself however is a CONSTANT reminder of enjoying the process, and after 8 or so years of application, be able to reflect on a long term commitment to self with a smile, aside from any material gain that will simply be the by-product of a perspective shift made years earlier.

Today I turned 32. What a blessing. I’d like to reflect on things that have shaped who I am becoming.

1. Uncertainty is baked into the fabric of life - it’s not a reason not to commit though. Waiting for certainty is fear masked as safety. Back yourself and your ability to pivot when things change. You got this.

2. Suffering exists in the space between the event and acceptance. The sooner you accept, the sooner you can create a new reality - one that’s in your favour.

3. Partner selection is arguably the most important decision a person can make. There is no perfect - but aligned values and a shared mission are the recipe for connection and longevity.

4. Perspective is a superpower. Pronoia is a gift! The ability to see life’s events as happening FOR YOU (in your favour), not life happening TO YOU (against your favour) is crucial.

5. Everyone is figuring it out, no one fundamentally knows what to do, we are all new here. The sooner you accept this the more liberating this life becomes. It’s yours for the taking. Make of it what YOU want.

6. Craft a life driven by core values (find what yours are). This is where you will find your peace.

7. If it sounds too good to be true. It probably is. True value is slow, it is steady, it is compounding but it is true.

8. Energy never lies. Trust it.
