Honored to have my image on the cover of this month’s @cntraveler. It’s a magazine I always look to for travel inspiration so it was extra special to be able to represent New York City on the cover.

Thanks @pallavikumarphoto and @karinmuellertraveller for helping make it happen! taken in Manhattan, New York by @joethommas

Last month I had the opportunity to travel to Rwanda and see the mountain gorillas.

In the 1980s there were only about 240 mountain gorillas left, but thanks to conservation efforts and protection through regulated tourism there are now over 1,000.

We started our excursion in the Volcanoes National Park near Musanze and hiked up through the village, passing through potato fields until we reached the national park boundary. After a few hours into the jungle, just a few feet away, we got to witness a gorilla family playing, eating, and sleeping— while not paying us much attention.

It was an incredible experience to see these beautiful creatures peacefully in their natural habitat. taken in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda by @joethommas
