Reflecting on a very enjoyable month of art fairs. I took part in the Knaresborough @fevafestival with a stall @bravoartists Then I was in Pateley Bridge @pateleymakersyard and had some of my artwork and cards in Glasshouses with @pateley_bridge_art_club
Finally, back in Pateley Bridge as part of the NiddArt Trail, with two days in the Memorial Hall (with the rare luxury of two tables!).
It was lovely to make lots of small sales (mainly cards, bookmarks, notebooks and things under £5) which all add up, plus a few of my original prints and paintings.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of doing fairs/markets is getting to see what other artists have created and chatting to them. It's always inspiring.
I'm very lucky to live in such a welcoming, creative, beautiful area.

I'll be back in Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall on Saturday 19th September, 11am to 4pm, for an autumn craft fair. Free entry, pop up cafe and face painting!

'This land is our land' Fox pair with red kite above.
This is my 3 block, 3 colour lino print. The final block (or key block) in black ink, has brought the grey and orange ones together. It's the most challenging but rewarding linocut I've attempted to date. It took lots of initial sketches and plenty of head scratching, before I transferred my final drawing onto 3 blocks of lino!

6 of these prints will be heading to @thoughtpressproject soon. This year proceeds of print sales will go towards two brilliant charities: @centrepointuk and @ediblerotherhithe
There are already lots of beautiful prints on the Thought Press Project site, go and have a look...

The theme is 'Home is where the heart is ' 💚
For me, home means a feeling of belonging and safety. When I walk in the hills, enjoying nature and wildlife, I feel most at home. It's where my heart is. I'm lucky enough to live in Nidderdale, near the Yorkshire Dales. We see beautiful red kites flying over our home every day. It's their home too. We've yet to see foxes here, but they are one of my favourite wild animals, and I know they aren't far away. Sadly, foxes and kites are hunted and persecuted still, despite it being illegal.

In the UK, a tiny percentage of rich, powerful people own a huge percentage of the land. I hope one day this imbalance can be redressed, hence the nod to the Woodie Guthrie song, 'This land is your land'.

Watercolour painting practice - irises.
Mary Woodin's delightful book 'The Painted Garden, a Year in Words and Watercolours' is full of gorgeous paintings. I had a go at painting these beautiful bearded iris flowers from the book. Her style is so delicate and loose, very inspiring.

I couldn't resist purchasing this beautiful print, Swifts at Chapel Milton, by talented printmaker and all round lovely person @vickijordanart
I love it because it is a piece of art activism, about Network Rail blocking up swift nests whilst carrying out work on twin viaducts in the Peak District. Thankfully, following a major public backlash and a petition signed by over 14,000 people, Network Rail unblocked and reopened the nest boxes in April this year.

Vicki created this print as part of an annual charity print project for @thoughtpressproject Artists donate 6 prints to be sold. This year proceeds of print sales are going towards two brilliant charities: @centrepointuk and @ediblerotherhithe

Happy 1st of October! 🍁🍂🍄🍄‍🟫🍂🍁
Hoping for a sunny autumn of stunning colours and fab fungi.
I made a large calendar of my artwork to hang on our wall this year. I made some small desk ones too for friends, family and to sell. Not sure I've enough new work for a 2027 calendar yet!

Mini landscapes, 2.5 x 2 inches. I wasn't really feeling it today, a bad headache has got in the way of being creative, as it often does 🙄 but I had a play with these anyway. They're OK, I like the poppy field and dog walkers. It's all about having a go and developing your skills. I love the vibrant sky colours, using gorgeous Winsor and Newton Professional watercolours. 🎨 🖌

I'm doing an autumn craft fair tomorrow in Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall. It's certainly starting to feel autumnal here...and quite wet!

(I'm reluctantly sharing the official poster for the event, photo 3. I didn't create it and I hate the use of AI! 😕)

I'm always trying to fit in extra makes...I've carved some tiny leaf and toadstool stamps plus a little hedgehog. I'm printing them onto lovely wooden keyrings and will do some bookmarks too. 🍂🍄🌿 🦔
I've also printed lots of different coasters and given them each 3 coats of varnish to protect them from spillages. ☕️

I haven't done any watercolour painting for a while. I never know what to paint or where to start, so I procrastinate! Today, I flicked through this beautiful book, The Painted Garden written and illustrated by @marywoodin and was inspired to have a go at some Japanese anemone flowers. Such beautiful late summer/early autumn bloomers.

I'll be in Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall this Saturday 19th September with my prints and paintings from 11am to 4pm.

My next fair is on Saturday 19th September, in Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall @pbmemorialhall the day before the Nidderdale Show. 11am to 4pm, free entry. Pop up cafe.

I've been busy printing more running hare coasters because I sold out of my last batch! I've done them in black, blue and green. Once they're dry I'll give them a few coats of varnish. I think I'll print some in red too...

The Tour of Britain cycle race came through Nidderdale last weekend, it inspired me to print lots of cycle cards, bookmarks and notebooks. 🚲 🚲🚲

Topping up my most popular prints ready for my last art fair of August. Lots of greens and blues. 💚💙
I'll be in @pbmemorialhall on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th August, 11am to 4pm. It's part of the Nidd Art Trail and lots of other artists will be exhibiting and selling their art too. Alongside me will be the Nidderdale Stitchers (I'm the group secretary).

I had such an enjoyable time doing this last year, I'm looking forward to it again!
The Nidd Art Trail happens during the last 2 weeks of August, with lots of venues and artists to visit. Have a look at the website for details (niddarttrail).
Also on this weekend is another exhibition by some members of @pateley_bridge_art_club taking place in Broadbelt Hall, Glasshouses (Saturday to Monday). Plus Summerbridge Methodist Church is hosting several artists including my friend @rosiewilson12345 from Friday to Monday.
What a fabulous, creative place. I feel very lucky to be part of it all! 😊

Another weekend, another lovely fair! This time I'm at @pateleymakersyard Open Studios and Artisan Market, as part of the wonderful Nidd Art Trail. Lots of talented artists and crafts people. We're here until 8pm this evening, then tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am to 6pm. The Maker's Yard is well worth a visit.
Plus, our Art Club @pateley_bridge_art_club has a truly wonderful exhibition in Broadbelt Hall, Glasshouses Sat/Sun/Mon 10am to 5pm. I dropped a few of my pictures off this morning and believe me, with so many talented members, the exhibition is going to be stunning! And they have delicious homemade cakes. 😋
