I’ve been looking forward to sharing this one for awhile! “Swanke & Moss” is now available on Bandcamp.

Last August, after opening for Sir Richard Bishop, Josh and I rode the post-show glow back to his basement and recorded a handful of improvised pieces for guitar, dulcimer, and synth. Those sessions became this tape.

Josh is one of my favorite musicians and I’ve admired his music for a long time so I feel pretty lucky to be releasing our second album as a duo out into the world.

We are also playing at Specks Records in Portland, OR this Sunday 8/30 at 11am for Ambient Sunday and celebrating the release of this tape. Come hang if you’re in the area! Thanks for reading this far and thanks for your support. ✌️ by @john_swanke

Announcing the next Ambient Sundays! Our morning live show featuring toast, green tea & coffee too. Presented by @moonglyphrecords, @brainfood_bread & @portlandcoffeeroasters at @specksrecords

I’m excited to return to the @shakedownbham on August 14th with The GP Sunsets, @corduroypantz and @iangeorgemusic.

I’ll be kicking things off at 9pm sharp, so come early and stick around for the rest of the night. It’s going to be a good one.

Hope to see you there! ✌️ by @john_swanke

Wow, somehow it’s been a year since we released the glorious PNW sounds of Rain Country by Sir John Swanke @john_swanke

Eiderdown is honored to be part of putting out John’s work out there in the Universe for all to hear. Super killer art by @aherrmann.print too! We still have a few copies of a little repress of the Rain Country cassette and if you’d like one, we’d be glad to sell you one :)
More from Mr.Swanke soon I’m sure and PNW folks should be sure to catch him live, its a dream 🌲 by @john_swanke

One year ago today my album Rain Country made its way into the world courtesy of @eiderdownrecords. I spent a long time making this record and some of these songs I had been playing in different shapes and forms for nearly a decade. I slowly pieced this album together as a sonic love letter to the PNW and all the places that continue to shape who I am.

Over the last year it has traveled much farther than I expected. Finding headphones and tape decks as far away as Italy and New Zealand. Thank you to everyone who listened, shared it, came to a show or picked up a copy. It means so much to me.

If you have a favorite song, a memory tied to this recording, or if this tape somehow crossed your path this last year, I’d love to hear about it. And if you haven’t heard Rain Country yet today feels like as good a day as any as a light rain is currently falling over Camano Island. Thanks for listening✌️ by @john_swanke

If you know me, or you’ve followed my music for a while, then you probably know how much I love @themodernfolk. In all the shapes and forms: the MF Trio Band, Electronic Ensemble, Crater Family, Primitive Future…this music has shaped my own creative process more than I could ever put into words.

I discovered The Modern Folk at a time when I was pretty close to giving up on making music. The first tape I heard on @eiderdownrecords completely changed my perspective and became one of the biggest creative influences in my life.

This new album, courtesy of @iheartnoise, is no different. Moss and crew continue to be some of my biggest muses, and a constant reminder to always be recording. Go spend some time with this one. by @john_swanke

My second collaboration with @themodernfolk is making its way into the world.

Last August, after opening for Sir Richard Bishop, Josh and I rode the post-show glow back to his basement the next morning and recorded a handful of improvised pieces with guitar, dulcimer, and synth. That session became this tape.

I’ll have a small batch available for early purchase at all my upcoming shows before the official release next month. If you’re in Portland, come check us out at Specks Records on 8/30 for an Ambient Sunday release show.

Looking forward to sharing this one with you all.
