The brief given to me for this concept piece I created for Star Wars discussed that spaceships pierced this veil in space like a whale breaching the surface of the ocean. What a cool concept. Living on the coast in California gave me lots of images from memory to use in my design. Then I turned the whole thing upside down. The creative process always fascinated me:) #conceptartist #visualdevelopment by @johnburtonart

More concept art I created for Star Wars. As I develop a sense of place I’m also trying to convey a story beat according to the art director’s brief. If you compare my last two posts one gives a sense of peace and calm where this one feels more threatening and frenetic. #vizdev #conceptartists #visualdevelopment by @johnburtonart

More of my concept art for Star Wars. There is something so rewarding in receiving a fascinating brief from an art director to spark the imagination in world building. #conceptartists #worldbuilding by @johnburtonart

Amazing that two films I worked on have been the number 1 film on Netflix this past month and currently are both in the top ten. Fun fact: the incredibly talented @armand_serrano worked on both of them too. @thedavidmovieofficial @swapped__filme2026 #productiondesigner #conceptartist #topten by @johnburtonart

Here are some of the amazingly beautiful works @m.sparber.art created for the @thedavidmovieofficial . He is such an incredible artist and deep thinker. His background in lighting while working at Pixar has given him unique skills in using light and other elements to inform his concept work and develop the visual story for the film in ways that left a beautiful imprint on The David Movie. His thoughtful approach to everything significantly contributed to the world-building. Since the day Michael and I met up at Pixar, we have been close friends, so I was incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to work with him at @sunriseanimationstudios for the @angel release of The David Movie . Some of the extraordinary movies Michael has worked on include Brave, Up, Ratatouille, Cars, and Inside Out. Copyright Giant Slayer Media, LLC by @johnburtonart
