Sushil K Dade playing with @radh__1ka__ at the Hug and Pint, 24th August 2026. Sushil really helped @nationalparkband get started. If you listen to the track, Sterling, you’ll hear Sushil playing bass and drums.

Meant to take an 800 speed film to the gig but it was faulty and wouldn’t load. Only had a 400 daylight balanced one so had to make do. The Hug and Pint was really dark so surprised to get any photos out of it. Seems like all my photos are about how I can’t work a camera… still love using film.

Last year @glasgoespop I took along an automatic film camera and although almost every picture was wrong, I liked the blurring, weird colour balance and out of focus shots. This year, I’d got much better at holding the camera steady and the film colours look more natural but the pictures were disappointing - just looked like I could have taken them on the phone. I think I like things scuffed up a bit. Anyway, it doesn’t change that the Glas Goes Pop festival is one of the best places to see a band and catch up with music friends.

After such a long time the records for the first @nationalparkband album are here. @errolshotwax have done such a great job - I think they look and sound brilliant. There’s a @monorail_music Glasgow School version and one from Errol’s.

April Magazine and Tony Jay at the Doublet a couple of weeks ago. So great to see them. Took along a fully manual Olympus film camera - not sure I could focus without glasses and wasn’t too clever guessing the exposure.

We’re very excited to welcome National Park to our coveted Glasgow School Series with their debut album, outside. National Park is a gently heroic collective centred around John Hogarty, a legendary presence on the Glasgow music scene since the 1990s, and always regarded as one of the best guitar slingers in town.

outside is a collection of singles, eps and unreleased home recordings spanning the years 1997 - 2026. The music is based around the songs of lead singer John H (guitarist with The Pastels since 2010), with additional contributions on this album from Scott Walker and Sushil Dade (Future Pilot AKA). They’ve in the past been described as having some similarities to The Velvet Underground, Galaxie 500 and Yo La Tengo “without sounding like anything else” (Byron Coley, The Wire). They describe themselves as occupying the space between the visceral and the whistleable.

It’s great that we have venues like @thegladcafe to play in. Thanks to Simon, Fin and Jen for getting our show to the stage, @wor_kspace for hosting at their launch, @mrgerardlove for brilliant record choices and @glamourmuscle for making it sound and look so good.
