Enrichment is an installation created by Jo Yarrington and John Morton that explores the resonant frequencies between uranium enrichment and, radioactive decay, and the dangers and destruction that can easily be unleashed. In the entry, a display cabinet positioned on its side houses an array of Uranium glass spheres spilling out onto the floor. In this same room, Uranotype photograms document fragments of tin cans used by miners during the 1940s and 50s, collected from abandoned Uranium mines in Utah. A long corridor leads to a darkened back room. Along each side of the corridor are orbs displayed on metal shelves. Inside each sphere is a manipulated image sourced from atomic bomb documentation and personal archives. The images in these glowing spheres become small projection devices. The final installation is composed of large tear-shaped clear glass vessels that form a circle over piles of sand and debris. Sound and light,created from and controlled by geiger counter clicks, activate in response to the motion of visitors to the gallery, witnesses to the aftermath of unforeseen forces. @jyarrington @garnerartscenter @nyscouncilonthearts by @johnmorton890
