More much fun in the space. The first two with a lovely visit and moment talking with @bklynkennedy and @jackieshatz and meeting her husband @johnmorton890. Hadn’t realized their collaborations and with the Kohler foundation. AND that Randy had written a lovely thing about a cool sound piece that John did in Central Park in 2009, with The NY Times… Also Jackie brought up Nabakov and butterflies. ✨

Find PAUSE at @serendipityartsfestival 2025, Goa

An installation by the Ja Ja Ja Collective, Anjali Mangalgiri and @jyarrington in collaboration with @johnmorton890, PAUSE is an interactive site-referential installation that was inspired by the witnessing of a daily act of drying natural fabric on a 3-dimensional framework in Rajasthan prior to applying dyes or color.

A sound element, a deconstruction of a composition from a found 100-year-old player piano roll titled ‘Meditation’, will reverberate within the structure, further heightening the experience and enabling the viewer to disconnect and be present in the moment

The artwork offers an opportunity for a pilgrimage of sorts, a transformative journey that can be healing, spiritual, and meditative. The path or circulation through the installation is self-determined, allowing each participant to find their own rhythm and direction through the work.

Don’t Hesitate

If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy,
don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty
of lives and whole towns destroyed or about
to be. We are not wise, and not very often
kind. And much can never be redeemed.
Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this
is its way of fighting back, that sometimes
something happens better than all the riches
or power in the world. It could be anything,
but very likely you notice it in the instant
when love begins. Anyway, that’s often the
case. Anyway, whatever it is, don’t be afraid
of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb.

GARNER Arts Center is proud to present “Enrichment” by acclaimed visual artist, Jo Yarrington, with accompanying sound and electronics by composer and sound artist, John Morton.

This exhibition, comprising sequential, interrelated installations, invites visitors to explore the dual nature of technological advancement, displaying both its seductive beauty and its latent dangers through a series of interactive, visitor-activated installations.

Exploring the resonant frequencies between uranium enrichment and radioactive decay, Enrichment offers a seductive and thought-provoking visitor experience that probes the complex impact of technology and science on human lives and the environment.

Viewers of Enrichment are greeted by the striking image of an antique display cabinet positioned on its side, housing an array of Uranium spheres spilling out onto the floor. In this same room, Uranotype photograms document fragments of tin cans used by miners during the 1940s and 50s, collected from abandoned Uranium mines in Utah.

Leading further into the gallery, along each side of an eye-level corridor, are orbs displayed on metal shelves reminiscent of a science lab. Each orb contains manipulated imagery sourced from archival atomic bomb documentation and personal archives, transforming into miniature projection devices that evoke both memory and consequence.

The final installation is composed of a range of tear-shaped glass vessels, forming a circle over sand mixed with plastic and debris. Activated by motion, Geiger counter clicks trigger sound and light, casting visitors as witnesses to the aftermath of unseen forces.
