To clarify, I’ve had my counseling license for going on four years, and since 2007 I have had counseling roles in numerous paraprofessional and qualified professional positions. I had accrued tons of relevant experience even before I went to grad school. I may not know everything, but I know quite a bit. I may not have kids of my own, but if I did, I might not have ever been this available to help other families. So my clients are safe with me. And I’m loving it. This happens all the time. Parents hit a wall with their defiant kids, and send them to me to get reprogrammed.

If you’ve worn them down to the point that they need to call a professional, you’re doing too much.

I’ll advocate for anything that’s developmentally typical. But that doesn’t always mean excusable.

You can’t help your limited worldview. All of us went through stages of ingratitude.

But your parents, if they’re worth their salt, are working overtime to prep you for independence. You need to go easy on them.

If you’re in my chair, then you’ve behaved so horribly your parents must think you have a clinical disorder. I’ll determine whether or not you do. In the meantime, calm the fxck down!

I teach parents how to navigate the difficult stages of childrearing so you don’t need long-term, expensive therapy for things that aren’t disordered.

Since we can’t rush you through your developmental stages (without some kind of lobotomy laser, and those are illegal in most states), I’ll be teaching your parents skills for resilience, boundaries, and systems so they can survive your hormonal explosions without feeling like they’ve failed.

Hear that parents? I’m here for you. I’ve been helping kids and families find stability and understanding for nearly 20 years. I’ve seen enough to know how to help you. I’ve worked with worse kids than yours in places far less accommodating than your house. I’m the counselor your family needs. Link is where it always is.

I may advocate for teenagers, but I’ve got something coming for them next. Parents: chances are you’re doing better than you realize raising your kids. When you need to talk to someone who understands families and household systems, and looks for the reasons you need support and encouragement rather than therapy, I’m your man.
