One year today since I had to say goodbye, Dad.

You were never one for photographs—and that’s putting it mildly. Because of that, I don’t have many pictures of you, and for someone who loves photography, that’s always been hard to accept.

This image, though, is one I’ll treasure forever and perfectly embodies the phrase “a picture paints a thousand words.” Beautifully captured by Piero on mine and Debbie’s wedding day, it never fails to bring a smile to my face. It sits proudly in our living room and is a daily reminder of you.

I miss you more than words can express. Every day, I try to live a life that would make you proud and honour everything you taught me.

I hope you’re resting peacefully, reunited with Mum, and enjoying whatever journey you’re now on together.

Always loved. Always missed.

Not everyone gets to say it in person and for me that day is today…… “Happy Father’s Day, Dad”

Today has been a day full of mixed emotions as it’s the first Father’s Day I haven’t been able to see or speak to you as I always would.

I think about you more than I say out loud but put simply it’s every single day. There are so many reasons I could list for this but just for a second you feel close again yet so far away at the same time. I knew Fathers Day would feel so much different without you here, in fact I remember my first day without you and life has never been the same. It goes without saying I’d give anything to have you here for one more chat or one more laugh. As always I’d say a great big thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done for not only me, but also Debbie, Seth & Hermione too, not forgetting all that you taught me.

I carry your legacy with me every single day and I hope I am doing you proud. I miss speaking to you so much, every single day but I carry you in my heart. You may be gone from this world but you will never be gone from us.

Saints vs Wigan Good Friday Derby Day Magic! The mighty Saints did what Saints always do & wrote another chapter in the history books winning 34-24 having been 24-10 down with only 10 minutes remaining. #neverwriteoffthesaints

Today was full of emotion for so many reasons but in particular the first Good Friday Derby attended without Dad (Grandad P). I’m sure he will have been watching from somewhere & enjoyed the action. The kids proudly have Grandad P on the back of their shirts & were singing loud and proud 😊

Life can be so cruel at times, yesterday morning I woke to the devastating news that Australian Para-Cyclist Paige Greco had sadly passed away. At the age of 28, taken far too soon and the sport of Para-Cycling has lost a great talent and wonderful human being. Paige was a true competitor who raced hard to the finish but always with respect and integrity. That great big smile will be dearly missed by all who knew her. My thoughts are with her family, friends, teammates and Para-Cycling community at this very difficult time.

Mum, it’s been thirty-three years today since I lost you. You meant so much to me but you are still in my heart and that’s where you’ll always be. I wish you could have stayed but the memories I have of you will never ever fade.

I did not want to lose you but you did not go alone because a part of me went with you. I cling to the hope that those we love don’t go away they walk beside us every day. Unseen and unheard but always near, so loved, so missed and so very dear.

Reunited with Dad in July this year I smile knowing that you are holding Dads hand again.

A fantastic morning yesterday helping the local community at Debdale Park with British Cycling colleagues.

Outside in the sunshine & fresh air, combined with lots of hard work for a group of volunteers that are the Debdale Diggers! The social impact activity not only supports the community but it also coincides with the launch of British Cycling Foundation.

A Foundation that will invest in and support a range of programs / initiatives with a focus on improving health, promoting inclusion, whilst also tackling inactivity and isolation. taken in Debdale Park by @johnplenton

Happy Mother’s Day to my amazing wife! You fill our family with so much love and happiness. You are more than I ever have asked for, more than I ever knew was possible. I can’t believe we get to share this life and raise Seth & Hermione together. Thank you for being an amazing Mum and Wife, I Love You!

There are no words that can ever describe how difficult a day like today is. I miss you every single day, you were in my thoughts of yesterday and you will be in tomorrows too. It’s now the 33rd year without ever being able to hear your voice, give you a hug or simply have you hear me say just how much I love you. Today is about celebrating amazing Mums and for those 12 years we had together that’s just what you were. I’m incredibly proud that I had a Mum like you, you’re with me in my memories and in my broken heart. I continue to try my best every single day to make you proud, Happy Mother’s Day Mum!
