Four decades ago, a pioneering group dared to dream big, bringing rugby league to a nation where rugby union reigned supreme. They laid the foundations for a movement that continues to unite, inspire and ignite pride across Tonga and around the world 🇹🇴🇹🇴🇹🇴

Over the weekend, we honoured the trailblazers of the very first Mate Ma’a Tonga Rugby League team (1986), with former captains, players and coaches receiving their commemorative caps and blazers in recognition of the legacy they created. A legacy carried forward by every player who has proudly worn the red and white since.

An absolute honour to meet these legends and celebrate the history they made. And seeing the next generation proudly representing our Kingdom was a powerful reminder that the legacy lives on.

For a moment, I thought I was back in Suva! 🇫🇯 Surrounded by beautiful people, delicious Fijian food, vibrant arts and crafts, and the unmistakable warmth of our people.

So good to see the vuvale come together at Fiji Day in Auckland to celebrate Fijian Language Week and the Republic of Fiji’s 56th Independence Anniversary. A beautiful celebration of culture, identity and the strong bonds that connect us all.

A packed Ōtāhuhu Town Hall last night as players, coaches and families came together for the Counties Manukau Rugby League (CMRL) jersey presentation. 🏉

CMRL has a proud history of developing outstanding athletes, coaches and leaders across our region, and it was a privilege to be in the room with the rising stars of the sport across the U13, U14 and U15 grades.

Congratulations to all involved. Shout out to the parents, caregivers and whānau who are there for every training session, game and early morning — cheering, supporting and backing our young people every step of the way.

The future of rugby league is looking bright! Ngā mihi! taken in Otahuhu Town Hall Community Centre by @johnpulu
