This week, we’re talking about something that could save a life. Maybe even the life of someone you love.

Aortic dissection is a medical emergency where every minute matters. For Amy Yasbeck and Jason Ritter, raising awareness is deeply personal.

This Aortic Dissection Awareness Week, we’re sharing why education matters, why first responders play such an important role, and how greater awareness in those critical first moments can change outcomes.

Follow us and check back all week as we share stories, signs to recognize, and resources worth passing on.

Because the right information, at the right time, can make a real difference. by @johnritterfoundation

Let’s get back to basics: What exactly is Thoracic Aortic Disease? It refers to issues like aneurysms and dissections in the chest area of the aorta, the major artery from the heart. It can be linked to genetic conditions and often shows no symptoms, which is why family history and imaging are critical to its diagnosis. Let’s learn about it. Talk about it. And protect the people we love. Click the link in our bio to learn more. by @johnritterfoundation

Aorta Advocate Mitch is an example of how early detection can lead to ideal outcomes. He turned his gratitude into advocacy work and is now a volunteer on our Aorta Advocate team to give a patient perspective just like he got from his Aorta Advocate Matt. by @johnritterfoundation

This week, we shared warning signs, survivor stories, important resources, and the role first responders can play in changing outcomes.

Aortic Dissection Awareness Week may be coming to an end, but our work is not. If something you saw or learned this week stayed with you, consider helping us carry this momentum forward.

Every donation helps support the research, education, and advocacy needed to help more aortic dissections be recognized in time and more lives be saved.

The week ends. The mission continues.

Stories like Courtney’s remind us just how important first-responder awareness can be in an emergency.

For someone experiencing an aortic dissection, an EMS provider may be among the first healthcare professionals to recognize that something more serious could be happening.

Today, we’re grateful for the EMS professionals who answer the call and care for people when they need it most.

Tag an EMS provider you know and help us thank them in the comments. by @johnritterfoundation
