a meditation on the magic of film. digital imagery often feels lifeless & sterile, is that why we love film imagery? I believe it touches something transcendent within us. We are each one a tangible soul. Physical, material, & corporeal, yet also transcendent & spiritual — this wonderful seemingly dichotomous mystery of our existence is worthy of many hours of meditation.

Coffee made by my shadow. The light in our kitchen is one of the most inspiring parts of my life, truly. I first played with this concept several years ago and I still find it so imaginative and playful. Drinking a Guatemala from @splitlogcoffee right now and it’s wonderful. by @johnwstambaugh

Have you ever paid attention to Jesus’s rhythm of rest & prayer in the Gospels? Jesus lived a real life. One where he worked, spent time with friends, traveled, ate meals, and related to his family. All the same things we all do. He was a real person like you and me (Heb 4).
.
We learn that Jesus made a habit of withdrawal from the noise in order to rest & pray. Becoming like Jesus will transform us into beauty in every way and this is a vital way for us to become like Him. Not to rest as the world rests, selfishly (John 14). Nor to pray as the religious-elite pray, self-righteously (Matt 6, Luke 18). But we pray and rest like Jesus. taken in Oregon Coast by @johnwstambaugh
