I want to say that these are just random ideas for a silly song without a kernel of truth in them… but if you’re a teacher, you get it lol 😵‍💫 #teacher #jk #elementaryteacher by @jon.torrence

Finding ways to rest and recharge are integral to so many things in life. I hope you can lean into what makes you feel like YOU. You’ll be better suited to building into those around as well as building into yourself 👊🏾 Acknowledge the real and the heavy, but know that perspective and a more complete you makes a difference #musicteacher #teacher #teachersofig by @jon.torrence

It’s silly, but things like this (meaning: with your own personal flavor) help with classroom culture! Authenticity helps with classroom management, which lets a loose moment of celebrating a student with some improvised goofy song happen before we get into the lesson 😁 Kids will often whisper to me that it’s their birthday so I can break out into it at the beginning (or sometimes mid-class 🤣) and it makes for a good time! #musicteacher #teacher by @jon.torrence

To be able to be part of a project that you care about is a special thing, and I don’t intend to take it for granted ❤️ The show @allaboardwithmskelly has these short illustrated segments that have a very sweet air to them and were a lot of fun to write for! #musicteacher #composer #childrensshow #education by @jon.torrence

As teachers, the absurdity finds its way to our doors naturally…she was fine…but that definitely was a choice 💀

I had a BLAST playing the role of the Music Teacher in these episodes of @allaboardwithmskelly ! Composing the music was meaningful, and getting to perform the songs was awesome 🤘🏾#musiceducation #elementarymusic by @jon.torrence

Taking time to sit and see the work that can build into something great. I love the doors of the mind that music can open, and have been fascinated with it since I was young. Someone once off-handedly said to me “Well, you just get to play games with the kids” and I only felt sorry that they didn’t understand a holistic approach to education. Teachers all work together to keep the ship afloat and play an intentional role. Music helps SO much with regulation and expression, building strong neural pathways that might not be explored! I love making art with my students 🤘🏾

Original song sketch. No real place for the song, but writing just feels good. Music has always been a space for me to process things. Whether listening, writing, or playing, what I find what moves me isn’t perfection, but it’s what feels real. #songwriter #acousticguitar #lavame by @jon.torrence
