My name is Jona Monét.

I am a Washington, D.C.-based multidisciplinary artist and freelance graphic designer. My work is rooted in identity, history, cultural preservation, and advocacy for Indigenous peoples and cultures around the world.

Through painting and design, I create work that honors what has survived, protects what must not be forgotten, and makes space for the stories still being written.

My creative journey has allowed me to work with BET+, Paramount, Beretta, the U.S. Department of Transportation, Black Lives Matter, and many more. But at the center of it all, I am still an artist, building a legacy one image at a time.

Today marks the closing of First Name Only.
Originally appointment-only. Weather adjusted the mission.

I will be present 5–9 PM, as long as the snow allows, holding space for family and for grace.

Despite the forecast, Ayanna Gregory—daughter of our master teacher, the love and the legend Dick Gregory—will bless the space. She joins me alongside @djrachi to set a tone of celebration and closure.

They would show up even if it were just us.
That kind of love deserves witnesses.

Regardless, we will have a good time.
But please—join us.

Every day we make history.

this is just a snippet.. the wonderful amazingly talented @imayannagregory performed at my closing event for my solo exhibition, “First name only” at @station_3510

I AM so thankful for everyone who came to my event, who purchased Art, who shared space, who reposted the flyer, who sent good intentions my way.. love was received and exponentially propelled forward.

It has been a week since my closing and I’m still brought to tears. This has become my personal theme song and the energy for 2026 moving forward.

May you make this day your day and create!

Your perspective is important and may your actions be intentional!

Art has taken me many places. This weekend exemplified that..

I was part of an exhibition curated by @artbaefoundation and @noma.bid at @sandlotuptown

Over 11 years ago @kayemjay6 @carymichael_ sat at a table inside of @chacc_dc as I was planning my first pray 4 ye exhibition. We brought our vibrant energies to the room and made magic..

years later when we link up its like nothing changed except we got better.. this weekend we lived a movie

Community is so important and im blessed to be around people who stay true to their vision. We rise together.

It takes a special one to bring so many greats in the room and then throughout the perceived chaos we got to not only meet @thuggerthugger1 we got to go to the show. Mann.. id say pinch me but I KNOW WE UP!!! by @jonamonet

A few of my favorite designs from GOOD TROUBLE. LOUDER!

I had the opportunity to develop the creative direction and visual identity for this year’s Art All Night theme, building a bold, handmade design language inspired by protest art, community, movement, and the enduring legacy of Congressman John Lewis.

At the heart of the project was an exhibition of quilts created in his honor. I designed the gallery graphics, exhibition signage, quote boards, and supporting visuals to help carry the artists’ work and Lewis’s message throughout the space.

This project was a reminder that design can do more than decorate. It can preserve history, amplify a message, and invite people into the story.

Thank you to Art to Go-Go for trusting me with the creative direction and giving me the opportunity to help bring this experience to life.
