No plan survives the run out of T2.

46 minutes over 10 km at 4:36/km — exactly my half marathon pace, just with a swim and a bike in the legs first. Held clean at threshold, in temperatures that made every metre on the back half feel twice as long.

Went out too hot, deliberately didn’t back off — and it worked. That wasn’t running, that was a time trial on foot.

The plan said 4:50/km. Coming out of T2 with the crowd, the head switches off and the legs just do what they want. Instead of reeling it back in, I tried to hold it. Every shower on the course was worth it.

It paid off — but it was a ride on the razor’s edge. Cologne is 7 weeks out. Two training blocks to go, and the plan is clear: start more conservatively, so I can really light it up at the end.

🙂‍↕️ Solid, not spectacular.

223 watts NP, 36.7 km/h average for 40 km, held steady from the first minute. That was the plan — and still, I expected a bit more at the end.

Out of the water in 156th, then 28th fastest bike split. 1:05:45 on the bike. Okay, but not the ceiling.

The base from spring is there: first proper cycling camp in Mallorca for me this year, then a Strong #radklassiker Eschborn-Frankfurt straight after. What’s missing is structure. Only a handful of rides on the TT so far, and barely any real structured session to a plan.

Just about 3,000 km since January. That’s where the work sits. 🔜

couldn’t swim a length 10 months ago. today I raced 1500m open water. 🏊‍♂️

99 sessions and 132 km later, I came out of the lake in 34:04. learned completely from scratch — and the early-morning pool sessions are finally starting to click. the water actually feels like a friend now.
swim is my weakest leg by far, which is exactly why it’s the most fun to chase right now. bike and run are where I’m at home (more or less😃) — so if I can turn survival into speed in the water, sub-5 at MD Köln this September moves within reach.

new to the sport, all in on the process. 🧡
