A great friend, fellow car lover, cigar buddy, and Hagerty client… and a future Broad Arrow client, I think. You’ll buy or sell a car with Broad Arrow one day, right @jonathan.segal ? 😄

I love seeing Johnny having an absolute blast showing his cars at concours d’elegance events around the world — with amazing conversations and plenty of laughs over cigars along the way.

The texts I get from him at various events — whether Amelia Island, Pebble Beach, California Mille, Villa d’Este, or Paris Retromobile — are always classic (verbatim):

“Stick soon”
“We stickin’?”
“Stick time”
“Are we having a stick?”
“It’s go time”
“Where r u tonight. It’s time”

Sometimes I get these texts even during our auction! 😂

From Bauhaus to Balbo

Brought to Villa d’Este by the ever-flamboyant US architect @jonathan.segal, this SIATA 208 CS Balbo Berlinetta is significant as one of only about 30–35 SIATA 208 V8 sports cars ever built and one of just six known surviving Balbo-bodied Berlinettas, making it one of the rarest versions of the entire model family.

It represents the peak of SIATA’s ambition as a small Turin engineering firm, combining a lightweight in-house tubular chassis with Fiat’s “Otto Vu” V8 and bespoke coachwork, and this particular example has a notably international history across Italy, France, Germany, and the USA before its recent restoration.

Congratulations to all the winners at the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance! It was an amazing weekend celebrating speed, elegance, and craftsmanship.

We’re especially proud to recognize several friends of the museum:

Bill Ceno won the “Ferrari Prancing Horse (1957-1995)” class with his 1955 Ferrari F50 Berlinetta and Spider.

Jonathan Segal won “Post-War European (Open: 1946-1973)” class, as well as winning the “Most Outstanding Post-War Award,” with his 1955 Maserati A6GCS/53 Spyder.

Dieter-Heinz Kijora won the “Best of Marque Award” with his 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL.

Ricardo da Rosa won the “Timeless Elegance Award” with his 1936 Packard 1407.

Steve Wheeler won “Best in Show Ferrari” with his 2000 Ferrari 550 Maranello.
