High performance should never come at the expense of long-term health.

And high performance is personal — it’s excellence relative to your context.

I’ve been quieter here while focused on the work. Here’s what I stand for — and what you can expect here.

I’m Jonathan Dick — Chief Performance Officer at @cloudfitapp, the AI-driven, human-centred health & performance platform. I’m also a Human Health & Performance Coach and Qualified Nutritionist (@macnutrition).

I’ve coached in London’s high-performance training environments for over a decade — supporting athletes and masters competitors, executives, and busy parents/professionals with full lives outside the gym.

My standard is simple:
Evidence-based = science-backed + expert judgement + client-centred.

No misinformation.
No hype.
No false promises.

I’m also a partner and a dad, and with a family history of cancer and Type 2 diabetes, I care about outcomes that hold up for decades — not just the next 12-week block.

Here, I share applied principles in training, performance nutrition, behaviour change, and longevity — practical, responsible, and built for real life. by @jonathandick.performance

The goal for @cloudfitapp was never just to have AI deliver workouts or track calories. It was to coach, and empower.

We’ve spent the last 4 years refining Cloudfit Intelligence, and I personally wanted to bridge the gap between “eating” and “fuelling.”

For me, as Chief Performance Officer and Head of Nutrition, it’s about removing the barriers and reducing the mental load; I want to enjoy pizza night without losing sight of my long-term goals.

Cloudfit Intelligence recognises the fresh ingredients and micronutrient wins, but it also highlights exactly where I need to pivot for my next meal to stay on track.

We built this so that your lifestyle and your goals can finally move in the same direction. No guesswork, no restriction, just the information you need to stay on track with where you want to be.

Cloudfit Intelligence V3 is available now, so click the link in my bio to try it for yourself today.

The behaviour change space is saturated with competing claims.

Willpower is everything.
Habits take 21 days.
Gamification solves adherence.
Accountability alone is enough.

Some of these hold up under scrutiny. Most don’t, at least not in the way they’re typically presented. Before we look at what works, it’s worth separating the narratives that dominate the conversation from the evidence that should be driving it.

Higher physical activity is associated with lower mortality risk—and greater variety is associated with additional benefit.

This 2026 study following 111,000+ adults found that people with the highest activity variety had about a 19% lower all-cause mortality risk vs the lowest variety group—even after accounting for total activity.

Practical Takeaway:
Don’t start worrying about trying to find more time to do more activity, swap out an existing session for something different.

While this is observational research, it offers practical insight: when life is busy, increasing the variety of your activity might be a smarter lever than simply trying to find more time to add more volume.

2026 won’t be about “new science.”

It’ll be about better tools, louder opinions, and smarter choices.

Here are the 10 questions that will shape results this year 👇

	1.	What are you optimizing for?
Health? confidence? performance? longevity? mood?
Hypothesis: One clear goal beats chasing everything.

	2.	What’s your minimum effective dose?
Hypothesis: “Good enough, consistently” > “optimal, occasionally.”

	3.	Hybrid training keeps going mainstream (strength + conditioning)
Hypothesis: Most people do best being strong + fit, not specialized.

	4.	Recovery becomes the advantage
Sleep, stress, load management.
Hypothesis: Boring recovery basics beat recovery “hacks.”

	5.	Nutrition polarises
Fundamentals for most; precision tools for some.
Hypothesis: Food defaults (repeatable meals) beat constant novelty.

	6.	GLP-1s stay in the spotlight
Hypothesis: Strength + protein + habits decide long-term outcomes.

	7.	Wearables: more data, more confusion
Hypothesis: A few metrics you act on beats tracking everything.

	8.	AI coaching becomes normal (guardrails matter)
Hypothesis: Personalisation starts with real life constraints (time/stress).

	9.	Community is the real multiplier
Hypothesis: Social consistency beats solo motivation.

10.	Misinformation evolves (often context-free, not totally false)
Hypothesis: “Compared to what?” + “What’s the evidence?” protects you.

✅ If you want to win this year: build a routine that helps you perform without breaking.

Pick ONE lever for the next 12 months and really try to dial in:
Sleep
Strength
Daily movement
Nutrition basics
Stress
Community
Data habits

Coming to that point in life where recovery is becoming a greater determining factor in my ability to train hard.

Luckily, @cloudfitapp has my back with when to push hard and when to take my foot off the gas.

You didn’t want to train — but you did anyway.

That single decision does more for your long-term growth than any motivational spike ever could.

Here’s why 👇

When your actions don’t match how you feel,
your brain feels the tension — cognitive dissonance.
And because your mind craves alignment, it updates your self-image to match what you did, not what you felt.

That’s not motivation. That’s psychological load management — the same principle that governs physical training:
- apply manageable stress,
-adapt,
- recover,
- grow.

Still, not every day needs intensity. Sometimes resistance is fatigue — and rest is the smarter rep. But when the barrier is friction, not exhaustion,
acting through it is how identity builds resilience.

Each time you follow through, you teach your nervous system that effort under discomfort is safe. You strengthen the same circuits that drive focus, recovery, and confidence.

Change rarely feels good — that’s your brain adjusting to a new version of you.

Motivation fades.
Self-trust compounds.

So next time you don’t feel like it, remember:
- you’re not just doing a workout.

You’re training your brain to believe in who you’re becoming.

💭 What’s one thing you did this week that built your self-trust?

A Message for World Mental Health Day.

You don’t need to live like a professional athlete or your favourite health & fitness influencer to feel or look your best.

Trying to make training your life when the one you already have is full and demanding enough can do more harm than good, especially to your mental wellbeing.

Most of us are already juggling:
- Full-time work
- Parenting or caregiving
- Life logistics
- Social obligations
- Daily stress

And then we tell ourselves we’re failing if we miss a 90-minute workout, didn’t prep 5 days worth of meals or didn’t hit 7 hrs of sleep?

It is no wonder so many people feel overwhelmed, guilty, and burned out. Here’s the reality:

Your training, nutrition and sleep should be a support system, not another source of pressure.

And when worked on intentionally, they are some of the most powerful tools for mental wellbeing we have, and the research shows:
- Reductions in symptoms of anxiety and depression.
- Boosts mood through endorphins and serotonin.
- Improvements in focus, resilience, and emotional regulation.

However, to unlock those benefits, your training needs to work with your life - not against it.

@cloudfitapp provides a #WholeHuman ecosystem that can help with just that. by @jonathandick.performance
