I bought my Hymermobil at the end of the pandemic in 2021, intending to take it on a proper road trip across mainland Europe.

Five years later, that adventure is finally beginning.

From 1 October, I’ll be travelling through France, Denmark, Germany, Italy and Spain before returning home for a very special family celebration in Yorkshire... My fathers 90th birthday 🎈 🎂, a birthday which has been shared with me since I was born.

There are friends in several of these cities whom I would love to see and spend time with. There are also countless people I don’t know yet who may become friends along the way.

I love travel, new experiences and adventures. They expand your world, change your perspective and create memories that stay with you forever.

They may be the best investments you can ever make. 🚐🌍

Leadership Kindness is Respect in Action, not Weakness, by Jonathan Pearson.

For decades, business has celebrated a particular image of leadership.

Be decisive.

Be tough.

Be relentless.

Win.

Kindness rarely appears on that list.

Many executives still confuse kindness with being soft. You worry that compassion reduces accountability, that empathy weakens standards and that respect somehow compromises results.

I believe the opposite is true.

After more than two decades assessing leaders, hiring exceptional talent, directly managed teams of 30+, and working with organisations across multiple industries, I have reached a simple conclusion.

Kindness is not the alternative to high performance.

It is one of its causes.

The organisations that consistently outperform their competitors are rarely built on fear.

They are built on trust.

Trust attracts exceptional people.

Exceptional people build exceptional customer relationships.

Exceptional customer relationships create sustainable commercial success.

Kindness is where that chain begins.

Every Leader Leads from One of Two Places

Every decision a leader makes is ultimately driven by one of two forces.

Love.

Or fear.

Not romantic love.

Respect.

Generosity.

Curiosity.

Service.

Courage.

The desire to help people become better.

Or…

Fear.

Fear of losing control.

Fear of looking weak.

Fear of failure.

Fear of not being respected.

Fear of someone else succeeding.

Every leadership behaviour flows from one of these two places.

The question is not whether fear exists.

It exists in all of us.

The question is whether we allow it to lead.

Fear Looks Efficient. Until You Calculate the Cost.
Fear creates hidden costs that rarely appear on a balance sheet.

The best people leave.

Innovation disappears.

Honest conversations stop.

Mistakes are hidden.

Customers notice.

Recruitment becomes harder.

Trust evaporates.

The organisation becomes slower precisely because people are afraid of moving.

Leaders often believe fear creates speed.

In reality, it creates friction.

Kindness removes friction.

Respect accelerates trust.

Blissed out in Barcelona 💖. That feeling when you've barely thought about work (except for happy thoughts) and only checked your email once in 12 days.

Thankful for the support to make that possible.

A few days into a true vacation, that's when you feel how different things are and know there are more days ahead.

Definitely need to visit Madrid again soon 🇪🇸 and Sofia it seems and back to Barcelona!

Attending a special celebration of relationship in Ibiza in September and staying for a week.

Los Angeles, Palm Springs, Austin, Miami and New York on the cards in October and November. Considering doing multiple shorter trips from London rather than semi-relocatikg for 6 months each year but the jet lag flying home Eastward is a killer. Maybe keep going West via Sydney and India or The Middle East?

I wonder if Brazil will be my home again during January and February? It all depends where love takes me 💙.

In addition to Northern America, been working on some new client relationships in London. Will be very enjoyable to have more customers and team members to meet in person more often (oh, and in Costa Rica!).
