Dan Berry & Jonny Murray present an evening dedicated to the greatest Trumpet & Tenor pairings throughout our favourite eras of Jazz. From bebop heads by Miles & Charlie Parker through to the hard bop sounds of Clifford Brown & Harold Land, and onwards to the modal jazz / post-bop of the likes of Wayne Shorter & Freddie Hubbard. Paying homage to the tradition of two-part horn arranging & the classic quintet formation with a band featuring Alex Hillman on guitar, Steve Berry on Double Bass & Luke Flowers on drums. 17 Nov @mattandphreds 🎷 @3digits 🎺 @jonnypmurray 🎸 @alexhillman1 🎻 @steveberrybassically 🥁 @luke_flowers_drums by @jonnypmurray
Sun 23 Aug • Nearly time to perform the whole of Earth, Wind & Fire’s classic album ‘I Am’ at Manchester musical institution @bandonthewall !! The Phenix horns are such a huge part of this era of Earth, Wind & Fire, and I’ve faithfully transcribed the album material and arranged for a 4-piece live section. Delivering the impact of those classic Jerry Hey, Thomas Washington & Benjamin Wright arrangements is no small challenge, but @adambidgood @jonnypmurray @georgerhardwick have all risen to the occasion with panache 🤌 With the full 16 piece Infinite Ensemble this music is an unstoppable force of pure joy and we can’t wait to finally bring this to an audience next Sunday. If you haven’t got a ticket yet, head to the link in my bio and grab one ☝️ by @jonnypmurray

Just me, @jonnypmurray @josharcoleo sat at @thepoolstudio a decade ago recording some truly feisty brass parts for the incredible @mrjukesmusic ‘God First’ LP way back in 2016! Incredible record & band. Was such a pleasure to be a part of this. So insane that we all got to make this track ‘Grant Green’ with Charles Bradley before he passed, the band was in Manchester on the album tour in 2017 when we heard that he had died, which was pretty sad & surreal, but that evening ended up being one of the best live shows we ever played. Feeling very grateful reflecting back on all of this 🥹 by @jonnypmurray
Looking back on the year, one moment stands out as a clear 2025 highlight. This summer we got the call from @frasermaccoll / @fullfat.co to join @yungblud at Bludfest as a 5-piece section.

Bludfest being YungBlud’s very own festival, we got to perform for a really special crowd of die-hard YungBlud fans. Insane atmosphere. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Dom’s band and crew, and we were very lucky to do it all again in Belgium a month later.
With just under 24 hours’ notice we depped our respective gigs and flew/trained to Rock Werchter, where we ended up performing for 80,000 people with YungBlud, stepping in for Sam Fender’s headline slot.

Sometimes, as musicians, you get to experience some amazing things… and witnessing part of Dom’s journey to superstardom up close this year was really something.
We decided to mark this occasion by recording our own arrangement of YungBlud’s Grammy-nominated “Zombie” at the beautiful @stmatthiasmusic Church in Stoke Newington. Thanks to everyone for an incredible 2025 😘 Trumpet - Jonny Murray Tenor Sax - Tom Leaper Baritone Sax - Dan Berry Trombone - Faye Treacy Sousaphone - Tom Briers Arrangement / recording / video - Dan Berry Thanks to @adamstokel who leant us a gorgeous pair of Ribbon mics to record this with 🫡 #yungblud #brass #horns #brasssection #hornsection #yungbludarmy by @jonnypmurray
Sometimes when we’re done recording a brass session we just sit and play. The type of improvising we do together live all the time and we need to remember to record it more often! More improvising from both of us moving forward, that’s a promise. 🎧 Headphones on for the Moog by @jonnypmurray
