Oasis are back! I photographed their homecoming gig in Manchester with a twenty year old camera, the Ricoh GR, made around 2005, well before their last tour.

At a time when the world seems pretty scary, divided and quite frankly, insane, here was a gig- a moment- that served as some much needed escapism. Quite literally an Oasis.

They’re a band that divide opinion, but I absolutely adore those Mancunians. They were the first band I got into properly; me and my brother used to button up our top buttons and sing Wonderwall at family parties. They were just so unapologetically themselves, it was contagious.

And for me, growing up they represented possibility; making something of yourself. Regular lads having a go. If people were interested in their view of the world, maybe people could be interested in mine?

Anyway, it was one of the best gigs I’ve ever been to, it surpassed all expectations and I hope you enjoy the images.

To say shooting this kit launch for @liverpoolfc and @adidasfootball was a privilege, would be a considerable understatement. As a lifelong Liverpool fan, being able to direct legends like @steven.mcmanaman and Andy Robertson was dream stuff. Without wanting to get overly soppy, to most fans Liverpool Football Club isn’t just a sports team, it’s engrained in your favorite childhood memories, your best holidays, your culture. To be able to contribute to the club’s identity in even a small way- as kit releases often do these days- is an incredible feeling.

And seeing the idea through from start to finish with @allourfriendsco team is something I won’t forget anytime soon. Thanks again so much to @adidas for the opportunity. It was a very special experience and hopefully the best is yet to come….

Choose Scotland. Directing this film was surreal. Getting it on main grid before the Premier League returns tomorrow.

Creating a global campaign of this nature is something we’ve been working towards for while. To conceive and develop the creative through our baby @allourfriendsco with @adidas, and all our wonderful crew, was so special.

To be fair to ‘art director’ @jakegerardnolan it was his suggestion to do a homage of Trainspotting, and its iconic ‘Choose Life’ opening scene. But this could have easily been shit.

Writing the script for it under @irvine.welsh’s supervision was an outrageous privilege. Once we’d adapted the words to fit @scottmctominay’s personal story, who was born in England but chose to play for the Scotland national team through ancestry, we had our title and a clear through line for ‘Choose Scotland’.

Throw @lewiscapaldi in the mix on the voice over and @iggypopofficial’s Lust For Life soundtrack: our advert became a call to arms for The Tartan Army ahead of the World Cup. Best fans at this year’s tournament.

Thank you everyone who was involved. It was the most magical project to work on.

During the World Cup a photo I took of @scottmctominay was on a billboard in Naples as part of our @adidas campaign (as well as London and Edinburgh). If you’d have told me that would happen when I was a kid my head might have fallen off.

Taking inspiration from the final scene of Scottish film Trainspotting, the idea was to capture @scottmctominay- now a fully transformed, global superstar- in his new Italian surrounds, on the way to the airport ahead of joining Scotland’s World Cup squad.

Thank you everyone that was a part of Choose Scotland. This summer was an actual joke.

ENG-ER-LAND are playing tonight. 10pm. A red hot Saturday in June. Carling cans warmer than Thomas Tuchel’s underpants. It’s gonna be one for the ages 🍻🙈🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🫠

I took these photos at the Euro final in 2021 @jonnytv____ England Fans came in for a lot of grief that day for their lurid behaviour, but I saw a good side too. People of all backgrounds, colors and creeds coming together and letting loose in a mostly positive manner. I even got to watch @lightningseedsofficial perform their iconic football anthem with @therealbaddiel and @frankontheradio.

Whilst I’ve never followed the England national team, you can’t help but be drawn in by the spectacle. Especially during a World Cup. As a journalist and photographer it’s absolutely fascinating.

The morning of the final I recall deciding to head down to London, and bounced around Wembley Way with an unholy amount of kit meeting fans. It was chaos, but the best stuff is.

And what are we saying tonight? And this summer? Have England got a chance?

I doubt there’s a professional image maker that’s not been directly or indirectly inspired by David Lynch. I photographed a local fashion show in Greensboro, North Carolina with his lens in mind 👁️ @jonnytv___

For context, the last few weeks I’ve been staying at a Golf Resort in a small American town for work. Having grafted constantly for three weeks straight before the trip, Friday was my first night off, and on the way to bed, much to my surprise, there was a fashion show setting up. Not a typical location for a catwalk.

What I love about David Lynch is his fascination with the quiet routines of small town America, and how he captures the surreal aspects of the everyday. This show had the perfect blend of professional zeal through the amazing local models and designers, but in a very unusual, country club setting. The goal was fashion BTS, but weird Americana.

Shot entirely on medium format, I’m satisfied with the Twin Peaks inspired aesthetic. What are we saying? Lynchian textures?

I’m currently at the World Cup filming with the best player on the planet @erling. Last week we had an @adidas campaign go live ahead of the tournament with Team Scotland and @scottmctominay. Unbelievable, really.

People (sometimes) say ‘you’re so lucky’ or ‘you’re really talented’. (They definitely say less flattering things sometimes too). And there’s a degree of truth in both those statements. The real truth, though, is that I work extremely hard.

Being here filming at this tournament is a genuine dream come true. An entire life being obsessed with footy, and twenty five years messing around with cameras and writing, have lead to this.

If you take anything from this post, druids, understand that if you’re willing to work hard, and your goals are in the realms of possibility, you can do anything.

Today is Andy Robertson’s last game for @liverpoolfc. I photographed and directed him in an adidas commercial last year, ahead of what’s turned out to be his final season. What an absolute hero.

Andy Robertson is one of us. Fans love him because he plays like any fan would if they got a runout at Anfield. He is the absolute embodiment of Klopp era football at Liverpool. Energetic. Attacking. Loads of character. Fun to watch.

There’s quite a lot been said about him in the last week, but he’ll forever be the ultimate have-a-go hero… A lad that was playing in division four of Scottish football that turned out to be world class.

Filming with him down at the docks last August is a day I’ll personally never forget. Doubt he remembers but at the end of the shoot I was kind of lost for words, and simply said ‘I love you’… and I wasn’t lying.
