They did it! Chaparral's varsity girls and boys teams both got second place in regionals today and qualified for the Colorado Cross Country State Championship on Halloween. Everyone ran great, and Lizzy fought through injury to help score points for the squad. Hopefully she will be able to run at state but she's not been able to run much over the past 3 weeks due to bad shin splints that won't go away. Fingers crossed for better days ahead. Great job today by all the varsity girls and boys! by @jonrunningdad

Another race, another podium finish for Lizzy and her teammate Maylee! Chaparral High School girls got 5th place at this weekend's Pat Patten Invitational 5k in Boulder. The whole team ran great. Maylee broke under 19 minutes and Lizzy battled hard through some race week issues. Both Lizzy and Maylee broke up Boulder's front 5, who are some of the best in the country. Next stop - the Continental League race against many of Colorado's best runners. To be continued! by @jonrunningdad

The Chaparral girls faced off against a couple top nationally ranked high school cross country teams today at the 2026 St. Vrain Cross Country Invitational in Lyons Colorado. Everyone raced hard and the team continues to develop and grow. Maylee and Lizzy both finished on the podium within the top 13 runners, and Lizzy managed to get 8th place and a t-shirt. Special thanks to all Lizzy's teammates and coaches for helping to make this day a success. by @jonrunningdad

The Chaparral High School girls cross country team ran very hard today and finished 4th in the Division 1 Varsity race at Colorado's famous Liberty Bell 5k. Many on the squad set season's best and personal record times, including Lizzy who won with a time of 18:15. This team is young and building momentum. Special thanks to Lizzy's teammates and coaches for making today a success. by @jonrunningdad

Baptism into high school running on a hot and hilly course! Lizzy and her team worked very hard and the girls set the table for a steadily improving season. Lizzy got 31st place out of 207 runners in the girls varsity championship race at the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede, a preview to the state championship. It was a good learning experience, onward and upward from here! Special thanks to Lizzy's teammates and coaches for making today a success. The Chaparral girl's team has seen a lot of changes over the past 3 months, so it was great to see the squad race with grit and ambition. The best is yet to come. by @jonrunningdad

Lizzy swam with her @hra.swim club team for one of the last times this year before the state championship in July, and she had a good day in the pool. She won her heat in 100 meter backstroke and qualified for the state championship in 100 meter freestyle. This adds to her prior 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle qualifying times, so far. Special thanks to Lizzy's coaches and teammates for making today a success.

Update - she qualified in 200 backstroke on day 2👍 by @jonrunningdad

End of an era! Lizzy graduated 8th grade today. I can't believe we're starting high school in August! Lizzy really enjoyed her time at Ranch View and the friendships she has made. by @jonrunningdad

Lizzy doesn't manage to swim as often as she would like to, so she was very happy to race this weekend with her HRA Swim Team at the Arvada Aquatics Center this weekend. Somehow she managed to hit a qualifying time for the 2026 Colorado Long Course Championship Meet in the 200 Freestyle event. What a nice and unexpected way to finish out the weekend. Special thanks to Lizzy's coaches, teammates and the event organizers for making this weekend possible. She's excited to try another race sometime soon in the coming weeks, hopefully! by @jonrunningdad

No PRs today for Lizzy but she ran her best and won the girls 1600m race and came in third in the 800m and the sprint medley relay events. She hit some new personal PRs earlier in the season of 5:26 in the 1600m and 2:24 for 800m. Special thanks to all of Lizzy's coaches, teammates and competitors for such a fun 8th grade season. Next stop is freshman year at Chaparral High School! by @jonrunningdad

It was a scorching hot afternoon and the running was blazing also. All the middle school runners ran really great, especially with the high heat and no shade to recover in. Lizzy's group won the sprint medley relay and Lizzy also set a new PR in the 800. Special thanks to the coaches and athletes from Sierra Middle School and Ranch View Middle School for making today a safe and successful event. by @jonrunningdad

First spring track meet for Lizzy and her Ranch View Middle School team! It was a windy day at Rocky Heights Middle School but everyone ran really hard on both teams. It was great seeing everyone put their hard work and training to the test! by @jonrunningdad

Group photo of Lizzy and fellow athletes representing @rvms_wolves and @trhs.athletics at the Douglas County Outstanding Women in Sports awards ceremony. It was an inspiring group of young women across many sports disciplines. by @jonrunningdad
