Now You See Me: Now You Don’t feels less like a movie that was made cause the script was ready, and more like it was made cause everyone’s schedule was clear. By no means terrible, it’s just kinda there. A stronger plot would have served this cast a lot better. by @jonwahizzle

Man the 2013 Carrie is….pretty much the definition of “a good cast wasted”. There’s so much to mine from updating Carrie White for the social media age (even ten years ago), but this is just a boring, less visually interesting redo of De Palma’s original. The big prom freak out is pretty good, but also a great example of “we are putting all the budget towards this”. It’s also hilarious how mean Judy Greer is to the students bullying Carrie. by @jonwahizzle

Look, I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t think a “True Detective take” on Green Lantern was gonna work, but I’m so glad I was proven wrong with Lanterns. Really loved how the Green Lantern mythos is still intact for the DC films but has this interesting offshoot of it for the show to keep going if they choose to. A great example of how strong the core concept of superheroes can be that we can do interesting new spins on them that strengthens the original ideas behind them. by @jonwahizzle

Digger is truly something else, and I don’t really know how to put it in words. Audacious. Inflammatory. Bleak. Frustrating. Kinda genius? It truly is NOT the movie it’s been marketed as, and if you can go in blind it will help the experience. A huge swing that doesn’t always connect, but I was never bored and think it’s one of Cruise’s wildest performances of his career. by @jonwahizzle

Up until now I had never seen The Rage: Carrie 2, and I can’t say I was missing much. The connection to the 1976 movie is so tacked on that it’s honestly laughable, and the movie is so boring for 90% of the runtime until the big freak out happens. When that does, the movie at least becomes “good bad” for a few minutes. by @jonwahizzle

For the past year and change I’ve been reviewing comics for AIPT, and it’s been a blast. On the eve of the release of Amazing Spider-Man 1000, I’m proud to present my first ever feature article about my hero.

Gigantic thanks to AIPT, David Brooke, and Chris Coplan, who not only encouraged me to write more, but shaped this into a piece I’m truly proud of.

With great power comes great responsibility.
