Carnival In The Air is a song both arranged and composed by CAHS senior Jordan Johnson. The song was played by the Mellow Hawks steel band at panorama on 4/26/26. I am incredibly happy my best friend was able to play his arrangement and incredibly proud of the group for their performance. Keep up the great work @jordanrj0113 🤍 #mellowhawks #CarnivalInTheAir #originalcomposition #panorama2k26 by @jordanrj0113

100% would replay this trip again. I made so much friends many great memories, and played really well. New York is also such a beautiful place (for them most part) with so much different sights and places to explore, and I got to see snow for the first time EVER. Of course it was too cold for me, but it is a really great experience that I would definetly recommend if you get the chance to do it. #honorsperformanceseries #carnegiehall #music by @jordanrj0113

Throwback to Rising Stars Christmas Concert 2023 where I was starred as 1 of 4 soloists in the song played called “ Hard Times” composed by Len “Boogsie” Sharpe, arranged by retired Rising Stars Instructor Sean Steele Sr. Here’s a little story on how I was picked as one of the soloists. So earlier in 2023, I was chosen as one of our summer Serenaders. Most of our spots to play were at the Airport, Crown Bay, and WICO Dock. During one of the days we were waiting for something (not too sure if we were on lunch or waiting to leave) but Sean was showing some of us the song he was planning to do for Christmas, which was this song. The arrangement of the song we were listening to had multiple solos in it and he was planning to create solos and give a person in the Guitar, Tenor, Second, and Cello Section. I think I was saying something along the words of “Wow! this sounds like a good idea.” Then, he asked me if I wanted to solo for Tenor and I immediately accepted. This, in my opinion, was a really awesome opportunity and great experience to be able to do this, and was one of many starts to my current journey now by @jordanrj0113

Couldn’t have asked for a better final Rising Stars concert (as a student). Starting the Christmas season, I was just thinking I was gonna have a chill season without really having to do anything major… and I was entirely wrong😅 First arrangement I showed to the instructors was an arrangement of Carol of the Bells, cause I wanted to get a little involved (I hadn’t arranged a song for Christmas at that point), and I was really close to getting it but the band ended up playing the arrangement from Adrian Burke, which sounded WAY better than mine so I’m not gonna complain. Then one day while going to practice I get pulled to the side from James Gittens, and he asked me to do Green Christmas instead and lended me some old music to base the arrangement off of, but do my own variation of it. Let’s just say it went through like 4,000,000 changes along the way, with turbulences like the difficulty of the song, length, and extra fluff that didn’t have to be in the song. Also along with the song I was asked if I wanted to conduct the song, and knowing me, I agreed. For only being able to work on and conduct the song THE WEEK OF THE CONCERT, I’m really happy on how it came out. by @jordanrj0113

I hear the saying that “Musicians don’t take no breaks.” Well, I think I see it now. Fresh off of Introductory Night, slept at like 12am, then had to wake up the next morning, sleep deprived, well knowing I ain’t even practice my song🙃 Thankfully, being a part of the core set of people chosen for every playout for Rising Stars, I knew the song I had to perform, which was “Goodness of God” but with a nice little reggae twist. All the extra fancy little things in between were on the spot, but it’s all good cause it sounded good to me, and more importantly, the audience. This was performed at the Christchurch Methodist Church for their program “Steelpan Vespers, An Evening of Sacred Steel.” by @jordanrj0113

Along with my anthems performance in the beginning, I got the role of being one of the three Masters of Ceremonies, and let’s just say I kept that crowd ENGAGED throughout the entire 3-4 hour show. I got so much praise for fitting that role perfectly and have never been happier🙏🏽 Here is a tiny chunk of the highlights (rest of them are on my facebook page). #intronight #classof2026 by @jordanrj0113

Proud to be the “Introduction” of Introductory Night 26’ with performing the National Anthem and the Virgin Islands March. Yes, I was a bit nervous but I pushed through and made it to the end😁 Not gonna lie, after going behind the curtain I started celebrating cause I played better than I thought I would! Self-satisfaction is awesome🙏🏽 #classof2026 by @jordanrj0113

Performance after performance, I am a really busy boy😅. Anyway, this is from the Teacher of the Year banquet on 11/24/2025. After all of the speaking, we performed the song “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson (shortened down) and it is a duet played by fellow band member Kheli Maharaj on Soprano Saxophone and Jordan Johnson (me) on Trumpet. This was dedicated to our CAHS teacher of the year Akeel A. Breedy. If you don’t wanna hear our principals talking and just hear us play, you can just skip to 3:13 in the video, BUT I recommended to listen cause they made some GREAT remarks😁(and I also wanna stay alive cause the principals might jump me😅 jk ofc) by @jordanrj0113
