Story time! 🥹🏅
I was unusually quiet about running the Chicago Marathon this year. And if you know me, you know that’s VERY unlike me. So let me tell you why

Back in May, I experienced my first real running injury. My leg literally decided it didn’t want to run anymore. It was the weirdest sensation I’d ever experienced. I went to see my angel Corinne, who suspected a possible nerve impingement.

Then came the numbness and tingling down both legs, pins and needles in my arms, and months of trying to figure out what was happening to my body. Some of those symptoms still come and go today.

I had to cancel two races I was SO excited about. And honestly? It brought me down bad.

I went to more doctors’ appointments than I can count. Blood work, countless tests, FOUR MRIs. I built an entire team around me to help get me back to running. Physical therapy sometimes three times a week, acupuncture weekly, and a run coach who continued to believe in me.
In May, I couldn’t run AT ALL.
And even when I finally started running again, the training block was anything but smooth. We’d fix one thing, and something else would start hurting. I would literally wake up in the middle of the night panicked, wondering if my body was going to hurt that day.
And that’s why I didn’t share that I was running Chicago.
I was scared to get excited about something I wasn’t sure my body would let me do.
Even up until race day, I was terrified something would happen that would keep me from that starting line.
But I kept showing up. My team kept believing in me, even on the days I struggled to believe in myself. And little by little, we kept moving toward the goal.

So yeah, this medal means A LOT.

Not because of the time on the clock, but because there was a point when I genuinely didn’t know if I’d be able to run again, let alone complete another marathon.

And on Sunday, I ran 26.2 miles.

CHICAGOOO! Guys I have a lot to say about this one. But I’m tired lol. So for now I just want to say thank you for all the love I received today! The texts, calls and tracking me along the way until I finished that pushed me across the finish line which I was just trying to get to this time. But more of that later!!
