“My Curse”- 5. Hardest route I’ve ever touched in Ontario by far. 30 minute battle to send this route…My curse in life is once I find something I love, I get very obsessive about it. I'll do whatever it takes to do this. But this comes at a cost of dropping everything else in life to make sure this goal is met. I had to sacrifice a lot to get this job done... I trained twice a day, ate super healthy, didn’t try any other route to save skin, I was all in and it paid off… I was so emotional after clipping the anchors I cried for awhile. I’m happy to put this Curse to an end and move onto other adventures in life. Ty everyone to supported me through this battle… it was truly a team effort! 8 years ago I officially made a side quest to do all the sport climbs in both guidebooks, minus Forever Expired. I’ve always loved trying new routes and having this side quest over the years really made going to forgotten crags even more fun! Thank you to everyone who came out and helped me on this silly goal! So many great memories and I can’t believe it’s ✅

“Sin Eater” 5.14- ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

This climb has one of the most badass topouts in the Ottawa valley! Fontainebleau bouldering trained me well for this one!

Spent most of the month bouldering in Fontainebleau and visiting Paris with the family. Font is a whole another world for boulders! Did I learn how to top out after a month? Not even close haha! I had a blast, but I hope that is my last bouldering trip for many years to come haha! by @josephskopec

@snelson6756 “Mr Clean” probably Ottawa’s best developer.

This is a new way to give a shoutout to all the Ottawa developers! Eastern Developer League player cards! This community is amazing here and it’s all volunteer work and 90% of the time it’s out of pocket money to develop! There is no one out there being paid to fix those old bolts, tightening bolts, maintaining trails, making new trails and making new routes. This is all done by our amazing community here and I’m super proud of all the rookies and all star players we have here! If you want to give back to this community come develop with one of us or check out the final slide for the @cragcare_ottawa QR code(links to their GoFundMe page).

New Crag- Zen Den
This epic overhanging cliff is only a 9min walk from The Snake Pit! This area is blowing up with classics and should be all ready for the public for September!

Ulysse 5.13- Onsight
Narcisse 5.12+ Onsight
@andysparks and myself decided to do the @guyping tour for Quebec this week! I don’t often try to Onsight anymore(I rather travel and project), but it’s too hot out and decided to change things up! Ulysse has to be one of the most beautiful lines in Quebec! It was a honour to finally try this thing! I would say Guy is probably one of my favourite setters in Quebec! Eagle Fang -5.14b
Another classic power endurance route at Snake pit! Snake pit is not only the most epic cliff in the Ottawa region, but it has 5.8-5.14b! Having a crag with every number and letter grade makes this crag even better! Be ready Ontario! Crag is very close to being ready! “Stiletto Snake”
I thought pulling on a 3mm mono pocket and an intermediate nothing side pull to a lock off towards a slopey crimp was hard enough. But now make that mono and slopey crimp wet haha. I somehow pulled this off with wet holds and clipped the chains of “Stiletto Snake”. Name comes from me dodging a huge icicle(Fang) on the send go. Thanx @balkcharles for bolting this mega classic route! Snake pit should be ready for everyone by summer! Let’s go!

We finally did some sending of hard routes at Snake Pit! This place is far from being ready(many routes still need to be finished), but it is epic! You can’t tell by the video, but it’s slightly overhung and looooong! All the hard work throughout the winter was totally worth it! Let’s go Ontario! by @josephskopec

Crag Name- “Snake Pit”
This whole area is littered with granite rock and short approaches! Spent 8 hours rope soloing and decoding 4 projects- 5.14?,514? 5.13+, and a 5.13-? I was cold, but my stoke kept me alive and warm haha! Let’s go Ontario! If you want to be part of the climbing movement here hit me up! We only move forward if the climbing community works together! Let’s build a playground in our backyard :)
