Joe (@josephskopec ) does it again!! ✌🏻

After dispatching The Outlier Extension Project (The Inlier, 5.14b-ish), Joe turned his attention to Leslie's Mega Proj. This route is an old @leslietimmerz route that Joe helped finish bolting almost a decade ago. Then, last week, Joe made the first ascent after a few days of effort! Congrats Joe on doing it again: the second 5.14 in Devil's Glen and third in the Beaver Valley! 👏🏻

📷 Joe on an early burn and then the send burn on Clap Back (5.14a/b), named after an audible one-handed clap when he dry-fired off the crux 🙈. This impressive line starts up a corner leading to powerful moves and a big dyno followed by a few bulges taking you to the top of the cliff!

Cave Of Wonders part 2

We all had a great day climbing at the Cave Of Wonders! The walls on either side of the Cave have grades and angles for all, making this a diverse crag! Thanks again to all the developers for their hard work!

📷 I shot mostly from the ground except for one route; always tricky juggling between climbing and shooting especially with just one day in an area.
1. Shawn (@shawntron ) near the top of Rajah (5.12a).
2-3. A smooth ride in on Ryan's tin boat!
4-5. A quick approach with a lovely welcome sign (nice work @derek.13 !).
6. If there's a sit down stance, she'll find it! Mon (@misswii ) warming up on Wake Up And Smell The Hummus (5.10b)
7. Shawn warming up on Genie, I Want You To Make Me A King (5.10c), Ben (@wilcox.b.p ) on Hummus, and Ryan (@liability_waivers ) on Damned If Ya DEET, Damned If You Don't (5.10d).
8. Fall foliage was 👌🏻
9. Joe (@josephskopec ) going up Xerxes (5.12c).
10-11. Shawn on Rajah: a slight overhanging start finishing on a slab crux 🌶️
12-13. Mon on Crypto Geology (5.11a) and Djinn And Juice (5.11d).

Joe (@josephskopec ) making history in the Beaver Valley!

After making multiple trips this year from Ottawa to the Beaver Valley and coming close on a few occasions, Joe sent The Outlier Extension project yesterday establishing the hardest route in the Beaver Valley and the first 5.14 at Devil's Glen! 🎉
•
For context, there was only one established 5.14 in the Valley: Shaven Yak (5.14a) at Metcalfe. However, there are still a few open projects left that are likely in the 5.14 range, so get after it! 💪🏻
•
📷 The Inlier, 5.14 something (according to Joe, at least 14b) at Devil's Glen. A play on words on The Outlier and a double entendre to refer to the new and old rock (and rock climbers). Here are a few snaps from Joe's working sessions in the fall and the spring along with a post send celebration. Congrats Joe! 👏🏻

In case you find yourself short a paddle, Charlie made due with a stick clip, a croc, and some tape. Another glorious day at CoW - grateful to Joe for the hookup and Alex, Daniel, Kieran and the bogie rock scrubbers for finding this little piece of paradise!
