Celebrating this girl’s 11th birthday. Her vet calls her the miracle dog. Four years ago she had a terminal cancer diagnosis. Best case scenario was one more year with chemotherapy. Four years later she is still CANCER FREE! She kicked it’s butt and never looked back. Last week she broke a tooth and had to have it pulled—barely missed a beat. She’s still playing in creeks and trying to climb trees chasing after squirrels. A mountain dog through and through. Moving a little slower these days but Woofie can get her playing like she’s a puppy. I’m so grateful to have had Ruby in my life all these extra years. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GIRL! by @joshaboldt

Book rec. My friend and neighbor @mcginleyesque has written one of my favorite books of the year so far.

I don’t know if this is a thing or not but it should be: Gothic Grindhouse. That’s what I’m labeling Hail Holy Queens. It’s been a while since I’ve thought about a book all day, excited to get back to reading it.

McGinley’s novel is so different than anything I’ve read recently, and that’s part of why I loved it. I mean, 19th century crusading nuns hunting unholy beasts? What?!

I sure hope the book is made into a movie. It would be amazing on a screen.

HT to @fringepress for seeing the potential in an unorthodox novel that certainly does not fit the typical mold in publishing today. And also on the beautiful cover art.

We attended a @lexarts Arty Party fundraiser last night where interior designer @isabel_ladd_interiors opened her home to tour. I love the idea of intentionally mismatching colors and patterns. Something about beauty in the chaos. I will be working this principle into my own design work. @gwendabond and I tried to embrace the maximalist aesthetic with our outfits. by @joshaboldt

It was a huge honor to be with friends today cheering on Governor Beshear as he launched his new book to a sold out crowd. I have a feeling big things are coming. Throwback to that time when I had a huge beard. And also in the last photo when I was the lost Beach Boys brother who was a treetop flyer in ‘nam and then came home to drive a big rig cross country in the 80s. I’d like to grow this beard again but @gwendabond says no. by @joshaboldt

A year and a half ago, in March 2025, I finished writing a book. Since then it’s been in the hands of many agents, readers, and editors. Today I completed the 12th draft of the same book. And I can say it has come a long way. Also, please let this end soon. by @joshaboldt

A few days on the beach in the Dominican Republic! We had a great adventure that included parasailing, waterslides, painting, beachside cabanas, and an absurd amount of good food. I'm also counting in the adventure the last day when our flight was canceled in Chicago and we had to hire a private car to drive us six hours home at 4am. But let's just focus on the beach and cocktails for now--it will all go in a novel someday I'm sure. taken in Miches Republica Dominicana by @joshaboldt
