🌎 This flopped the first time around, but we're not gonna let that happen this time, ARE WE, gang? 😜 This is probably my favorite flute recital piece of the last 20 years, it's just so eminently LISTENABLE 😍 It's like a lovely bit of cinema, and uses the lyrical properties of the flute so perfectly! 🎼🎶

When I photographed Sir James' flutes, there were of course HUNDREDS of photos that didn't make it to "prime time", as it were, but I still loved them, so here's one of the 18k Muramatsu that didn't make it to the final cut. (Largely because the way the light hit the diamonds made them look like sapphires, which they aren't, but I still think it's a fun pic!)

✨️ Lil photodump from this weekend's wild and fabulous Royal Albert Hall experience with the incredible @heritageorchestra and some of the greatest musicians in the biz; mega thanks to @garethmclearnon for inviting me to play, it was an absolute blast and this woodwind section was straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥! ✨️

Moosmann really did their Big One with this instrument... not only is it visually stunning with the intense purple wood finish and rose gold keys, but ergonomically it's absolute perfection, and the sound is incredibly resonant and projecting with tremendous brilliance from the thin-wall construction. It's soo comfy to play, and I'm finally over the lack of a front Bb (I think😅) It's also shockingly affordable in the grand scheme of Bassoon Madness Pricing.

(This is just the beginning of the Great 2026/2027 Bassoon Hunt, though, so this one is going back and next on the list is the 222CL thick wall!) by @joshj.ww

Come with meeeeeee and let's unbox a Moosmann 100CL-PRG togetherrrrr ✨️😍 by @joshj.ww

We all know I loooove me an Altus, but did you know that outside of the US market, when you order a gold or platinum plated Altus, the keys are *also* plated in a thick layer of 18k rose gold?? They're left silver in the US, but everywhere else, the entire instrument is plated 🤩✨️ Sure, it's more expensive, but it's also SO BEAUTIFUL 😍 by @joshj.ww

From the archives...A bit of that gorgeous @perealconflutes Ag950/14k headjoint from yesterday's post, in action! ✨️ I just love how the gold wraps the whole way around the tube, which adds an appreciable (and for me, appreciATED) amount of mass to the headjoint. Y'all know I like it heavy! 😜 by @joshj.ww

If you haven't had the pleasure of trying a @perealconflutes headjoint yet, I cannot stress how expediently you should! In my opinion, he is one of the very best independent headjoint makers in the field today, and he also happens to be a ridiculously wonderful human ✨️ I love all of his work, but I'm particularly fond of his .950 seamed tube silver heads with a gold ring lip, which completely encircles the tube...truly a work of art! by @joshj.ww

Reflecting on this absolutely ludicrous but delightful piece of timber today 🤩🐳 by @joshj.ww

Gold keys FTW, oboe fam! 😍 by @joshj.ww

Serving cvnt or overkill? (I think we all know MY answer 😜) by @joshj.ww

It's been brought to my attention that I don't show silver flutes enough love around here, so let's all gaze adoringly upon this sparkling sterling Sankyo ✨️😍🥰 by @joshj.ww
