šŸŽøšŸ San Diego Marathon ~ 3:01:14 šŸšŸŽøMy ninth marathon was a beautiful weekend in gorgeous San Diego running with my family at the end of May. My mom started us off running a 5K that she thought she was going to walk, beautiful smiles and all, and then my sister @celiaacy and I brought us home on Sunday running the full marathon with my sister getting a 5 minute PR and breaking four hours! Gotta show some huge gratitude to my mom and @drwkssn for being at the halfway mark and at the end cheering us on. That support is vital! Thank you!Next up: Twin Cities Marathon in OctoberšŸThe Marathon ContinuesšŸ #Roadto26 by @joshua_zev

šŸŽ‚100!šŸŽ‚Earlier this month, my Grandma Flo turned 100 years young. I don’t know if I’ve ever been more excited for a birthday in my entire life. I think it was my first time ever being around someone turning the grand centennial. The best part of all was the accumulation of friends and family from all over that came to celebrate these incredible 100 years. I joked with her that she should invite the whole city of Missoula, Montana. She joked that she already did. As you can see in these photos, she had a wonderful time—so many different expressions of joy catching up with old friends and reveling in all of the love in the room. She is quite the inspiration to me and to all of us. A symbol of longevity and strength and peace and perseverance. I told her, I can’t wait to be back for the next one. Grandma loves a good convo and is the originator of the ā€œChessin laugh,ā€ which, once it gets going, is one of the natural wonders of the world, something so positively contagious, you can’t help but join in. Happy Birthday, Grandma! May this year be a wonderful blessing.Photos by @denniswebberphotography by @joshua_zev

šŸ Chicago Marathon ~ 3:05:07 šŸOver the weekend I got a chance to run the Chicago Marathon with 50,000 others while the Windy City and its tens off thousands of volunteers showered the course with endless support. It was my eighth marathon in total and an unbelievable experience spent with family and friends. It’s been a busy year of running marathons, having completed LA and SF earlier this year and, I’ll be honest, I was shooting for the moon on this one—trying to end the year strong. I was more or less on track for the first 22-23 miles, but I felt my legs sagging beneath me. At mile 23 I caught a flat tire, a sharp cramp in my calf and for the next three miles, I stretched, walked, ran, and started cramping in my hammies. It was eerily similar to what occurred at the NYC Marathon. So no Boston Qualifier and no NYC Qualifier this time around. There’s always so much to learn from these experiences—trying to process, improve, and evolve with every subsequent marathon. Should I have gone out a bit more modestly? Who knows. Sometimes I don’t know any other way, but to give it my all. Better training? Potentially. More discipline? Always. I know I’ll be back for the next one, though. Trying to push my limits and see how far I can lower my time. Next year? San Diego and Twin Cities for sure. On the road to 26. Thank you to @celiaacy and @freddieyudin for getting me through, @hannahruwe and Ben for the hospitality, @claireemurphy for the best, most inspiring sign, Nathan, @wilcarletti and Sam, @marionroses23 Jonah and Bobby and all the others for showing so much love and support around the globe. I love you all.Last, but not least. Let’s Go @mariners !!! May this magical season end at the mountaintop! by @joshua_zev

šŸŒ‰šŸ SF Marathon ~ 3:04:18 šŸšŸŒAnother marathon in the books and a very special weekend spent walking and eating around The City with my heart and soul. Among the highlights: croissants from @arsicaultbakery and 30,000 steps the day before the marathon going from park to park and walking around Fillmore, Alamo Square, the Castro, the Haight, Russian Hill and seeing @sarahninahayon !During the day of the marathon my mom showed up at mile 15 and then took the bus to mile 26 to power me to the finish line. Sarah and her husband Forest also popped up around mile 20 to cheer me on after I had exited Golden Gate Park. How lucky could I be?On to Chicago we go in October for the third marathon of the year and eighth overall. Running continues to be the gift that keeps on giving!#slowgrind by @joshua_zev

šŸŽ„šŸ LA Marathon ~ 2:56:16 šŸšŸŒ“A week ago I ran my sixth marathon in Los Angeles, CA. I had no idea how it was going to go. My last two marathons ended in me stumbling to the finish line and I was anxious that this one might end the same. Fortunately, it couldn’t have gone better, resulting in a PR by 3 minutes, and re-igniting my hopes that I can keep pushing my time further and further back with some good-old-fashioned-hard work. More than anything, I’m so proud of my sister, @celiaacy , who completed her third half and, in the process, raised over $3,000 for the McCourt Foundation who continues to fight against neurological diseases, funding critical research and support programs for those affected, which included my Grandma Ann and Kirk Griswold, among others. I feel so grateful to have enjoyed the week leading up to the race with my family and some of my dearest friends. Running continues to be a gift that keeps on giving. My 33rd year was a helluva trip around the sun. There’s a whole lot of light in this world and the love, strength, and happiness that comes from being with friends and family, seeing and participating in great art, and enjoying the boundless fruits that the world has to offer keeps me going and has me excited for what lies ahead. (I just stepped out of breakfast and Scottie Pippen, one of the greatest #33, was walking in, so I think that’s a sign it’s gonna be legendary year!)Thank you to all of those pictured and all the people that aren’t (but who I hold near and dear) for being the gift that keeps on giving. You keep me youthful, keep me energized and inspire me every day—including my 98 year old Grandma Flo, who sounds younger than I do on the phone! I love you all, so very much. by @joshua_zev

LEOPOLDSTADTThank you to the cast and crew of the @huntingtontheatre production of ā€œLeopoldstadt.ā€ As always, the time these past couple of months working with such a fantastic ensemble and team has been wonderful. I feel so lucky to be working on stage and working on a show as impactful as this one. I can’t wait to build on the foundation we’ve created down in Washington DC, during our second leg with @shakespeareindc . Looking forward to more discoveries, challenges, and blessings down the road.To all of those wonderful Boston audiences who packed the theater, people, friends, family who came near and far—we appreciate your support. Your eyes, ears, and experiences give this play life. And a special shoutout to the eight awesome kiddos who gave us their time (sometimes away from school, sometimes making long commutes), their focus, youth, and brilliance. It was an honor to play your brother, cousin, father, and (future) husband.Onward we go! If you’re in the DC area 11/30-12/29, let me know. I’ll make sure you get a ticket and see the show!šŸ“· by @lizavoll by @joshua_zev

šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦ Vancouver Marathon ~ 3:19:45 šŸA couple of months ago I completed my 5th marathon in Vancouver B.C. Going into training I had high hopes of being fit enough to run a competitive race, but sometimes training has other plans and one’s body struggles to find its footing, which mine did. Time wise I’m right back where I started after my first marathon, which feels like a nice opportunity to reset.I feel so fortunate to have shared the weekend with my family, exploring the city, and breathing in the fresh PNW air. The highlight was EASILY watching my sister put on an absolute clinic during her very first marathon. (Phnom Penh restaurant was a distant second—their Butter Beef is straight from heaven).Hope you enjoy looking at the ups and downs of 26.2.The Marathon Continues. šŸ by @joshua_zev

CELIA! CELIA! CELIA!Last month my sister @celiaacy completed her first marathon in astounding fashion. In just a little over four hours she pressed on and battled through 26.2 Vancouver miles, never stopping, and smiling the whole way. Watching her come down the home stretch with my mom, my dad, @drwkssn , and Forrest was one of the most exhilarating, beautiful, and happiest moments of my entire life. Pure love. Pure joy. And pure elation which you can hear from all of us in the video! My sister is an inspiration to myself and so many others and I can’t wait to see what she’s got coming up next. Love you so much, ma sœur!!! by @joshua_zev

Today is the day! I am so excited to say that my mom has finally retired as a physical therapist at Virginia Mason sports medicine. She was a long-time folk and ballet dancer early on (still is!), a masseuse, and started her career as a physical therapist later than most, never an easy feat, graduating from PT school in the late 90s. 25 years later at VM and here she is! I don’t think I have ever been so excited for someone to retire and rest and enjoy the freedom and free time that they deserve. So excited for her post-PT life that I’m sure will consist of lots of outdoor activities like biking, long walks, gardening, traveling, eating good and all the other things that she loves most. Cheers to you, Mama! You deserve it all! We love you! by @joshua_zev
