Absolutely loving using this fabric I picked up second hand. My Mum thinks it might be Laura Ashley but there’s nothing on the selvage so I’m clueless. Google image search gave nothing away either! I find it so tough to use old fabric- if I don’t like the finished product it’s not like I can go grab more of it!

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter! We had a great couple of weeks. Lucy was off for 2 weeks so I took that time away from work too. I actually didn’t paint once. But now she’s back at school I’m all fired up to be productive and create art. I always find myself full of ideas when on holiday. My notebook and iPad are full of doodles and notes 😁

I sent one of these wee beauties out today. It is by far my best selling sticker. I’ve decided not to restock the glossy version as the glossy sticker paper doesn’t really agree as well with my printer. So if you’ve been wanting a glossy version it would be best to act now. I may also remove the 4 inch and 2 inch options as the 3 inch is the most popular and I think I would just streamline things a little. If you buy vinyl stickers do you like having size options?

Hello! I hope you’re all well. Brendan and I have been loaded with the cold this week so I haven’t been up to very much, other than discovering the wonder that is Ted Lasso! Yesterday I did manage to find a wee bit of energy to play with my Holbein Acryla Gouache paints. Brendan gave them to me for Christmas but I’ve only used them a few times. I think I’ve been a little intimidated by how bold the colours are and I know they dry quickly so I haven’t wanted to waste them! But yesterday I decided to be brave and play with the colours and layering abilities. I can already tell I’m going to need more white as most of the colours on this page were made using white, so of course I’ve been eying up new colours on @jacksons_art Have you tried acryla gouache? I’d love to hear any tips!

I had a lovely wee art session yesterday trying out different ways to illustrate daffodils. These ones were done with a layer of gouache and then using neocolor lls for the detail on top. My plan is to scan these into Procreate or Photoshop and make a pattern from them. I love how bright they are, I’m thinking they’ll look good with a cornflower blue background 😍

Anyone else love daffodils? They’re just so lovely and bright and pop up at just the right time to reassure you that Spring really is on its way!

My home town! I thought it was about time I shared with you all one of the new things I’ve been working on. I’ve created 3 of these maps now, with another 2 in progress. Currently all my maps are of small Scottish towns that I know well, as I thought that would be easiest to start with. Each element is hand painted with gouache paint and then I’ve put them together using Procreate on the iPad. I’m pretty proud of them and feel I can see them getting better with each one. I’m hoping to dip in and out of #marchmeetthemaker this year. I’ve wanted to do it for the last 2 years but always felt like I couldn’t manage it, so this year I’m just going to do what I can.

Today’s prompt is ‘You and Your Work’. Annoyingly I can’t find a picture of me wearing a pin badge or holding a sticker so this will have to do! I feel like this is a fairly recent picture but my hair is a lot greyer now! I’ll endeavour to get a more recent pic of me on here soon. In this shot I’m wearing a #memade scarf and a #memade jumper so I felt it was appropriate!

As far as my work goes- it’s a bit tricky as I’m in the process of transitioning my business. Until now it has been a business where I designed items for creative people - sewists and crocheters mostly, but I was finding that very limiting. In the past few months I’ve been enjoying experimenting with art and illustration styles and would like to develop my style more while creating products that reflect this. I’ve had a few prints printed recently and will be sharing them on here, and listing them on Etsy this week. I’d love it if you’d all stick around while I find my feet with this change of direction!

We returned from our lovely wee holiday yesterday and today will be a day of resting and laundry. I can’t help thinking about Spring though, and Spring cleaning! It snowed here while we were away but it’s mostly melted now and I’m definitely seeing signs of spring in the garden. I can’t wait for some warmth and sunshine ☀️ These Spring inspired stickers are available in my Etsy shop if you’d like to take a gander. It has been so ridiculously long since I’ve posted I wanted to pop in. I had no idea what to post (the longer I’m away the harder it is to come back!) So I thought I’d just casually drop in with a progress shot of something I’m working on. These are the first layers of elements of a map- 10 points to anyone who can guess where it’s a map of?! The monstera is for a card design so not related!

I’ve completed a few things recently (all with painted elements as I am currently in love with painting!) which I’m hoping to share with everyone soon. In the meantime I’m really looking forward to sharing the process with you all as I learn how to paint and rebuild my business.

I’ve been enjoying playing with gouache recently, especially painting trees! This was done quickly with leftover paint in my palette, so the colours weren’t mixed specially for this, but I kind of love it. I always wanted to live in a big white house on a hill, that I could see from a mile away with a trail of woodsmoke coming from the chimney 😍 I didn’t quite end up in the dream house but at least I get to paint it 😂
