Journal As Altar has a studio space! I still can’t believe it, and feel a mix of excitement, awe, and a touch of “whaaaaaat did I just do” about it.

On 9/25 (Dolly Day!), I hosted my first journaling meetup in the space! It was so much fun. I couldn’t have asked for better guests! Thank you to @asha.ray.therapy @hale_yeah23 @yogaforbiggerbodies and @strawberry_shortkait for bringing such fun and engaging energy in to the space - warming the studio. We gabbed about journaling, jobs, portland, life transitions. There was lots of laughter, and I was so inspired by people’s pages and creative community in action.

There will be more events in this space. I can’t wait to dream them up! Journal As Altar Journal Club? Open studio drop ins? You hosting a creative gathering here? This space is where I design stationery items, store them, ship them…and there’s room to grow. Come along for the ride!

Make journal friends. You won’t regret it.

💕⭐️📚

PS - Tyler from @paperandpencilchicago sent me that letterpress piece with all the analogue advice, and it’s so perfect in the space. Thank you, Tyler!

Who knew that hiding behind “well I haven’t actually really tried” was a thing??

Owning a business based on your favorite thing is tricky work. It’s vulnerable, scary, exhilarating, exhausting. And worth it.

I hope you love all the new things at Journal As Altar as I actually TRY to grow this business. For third grade me, for you, for all of us.

Oh, and: it doesn’t matter if we call it junk journaling, scrapbooking, paper craft, keeping a notebook or a planner…what matters is that we love it and it loves us back.

Shop the new drop. I think you’ll like it. by @journal.as.altar

Journals, diaries, art supplies, stationery, notebooks, writing, and creativity have always, always been here for me. And finding my community of people who get it has been AMAZING.

✨ These are all of my actual notebooks, diaries and journals. And my sticker book that I got as a gift when I was 8!

How lucky I am. 💕 Thanks for being here with me.

Xo, Erin

Nothing I’d rather do than spend every moment with you (journals).

I like to keep memories, paper bits, jokes, memes, current events, analysis, stickers, feelings, opinions, reflections, silliness, experiments, and junk in my journals.

This is the hobonichi cousin A5 avec.

Tomorrow is the first ever JAA studio journaling meet up! I’m so excited!

The studio is all ready for her first journaling guests. The papercraft kits for each guest are a delight (contents a surprise!). There will be snacks, beverages, a typewriter, vintage dymo label maker, scanner, paper punches, prompts and inspiration, and fall vibes on the projector. Incredibly chic and cozy.

Thanks to a sweet journal pal (hi!), one seat is available for free. Three seats left for purchase.

My whole world exists inside my journals. And I love that. Especially as I battle screen time and the seduction of overstimulation, paper practice and pen time is a bit of an antidote.

Go ahead. Journal your heart out. It can be serious, silly, mundane, deep, emotional, celebratory, memory keeeping, sketchbook style. Whatever! Get in there.
