I’ve gone back and forth for a year, contemplating whether I would ever share this experience and my story.

Without a doubt, this has been the hardest and scariest challenge I have ever faced thus far. The thought of almost being paralysed forever at just 26 years old still gives me chills to this day.

I’ve shared what I was able to document throughout this journey. I didn’t film much, because at the time, I was facing the biggest mental and physical challenge of my life. There were moments when simply getting through the day was the only thing that mattered.

But glory to God, on the 29th of September a year later, I can say that I have walked out of this battle stronger, more grateful, and a better man than the person I was before it happened.

Moving forward, I want to challenge myself more. To do the things that scare me. To step outside of my comfort zone, continue growing, fulfil my purpose, and become the best version of myself that I can possibly be.

Sharing my story is the first step.

I cannot begin to put into words how grateful I am to every single person who played a part in this journey — from those who rushed me to hospital, to my parents who stood beside me through every single step (literally) of this journey, to everyone who visited me during my recovery.

To every message, every phone call, every thought, and every prayer — thank you.

I am forever grateful and truly blessed to have been surrounded by so much love, support, positive energy, and prayer throughout my recovery. I love and appreciate each and every one of you more than you know.

This next chapter is one I’m incredibly excited for.

And this time, I’m not taking anything for granted.
