I wrote lazarus literally at this spot in the hills of Switzerland last summer. Sitting here, taking in literally one of the most beautiful views, I just spoke to God about how I was feeling in this moment. No bs or fake prayers, just honesty.

I listen to a lot of faith-based music and tbh the words can sometimes feel… stale. Not because it doesn’t mean something, but because sometimes it doesn’t feel like there’s life lived through the words; like it came from a factory rather than someone’s heart and testimony.

But this is not one of those songs. You won’t hear this at church or maybe anywhere public. It’s not a psalms 23 but more of a psalms 22, the one people don’t really like talking about it.

Even so, this song has helped me release these feelings and give them to God. All my struggles, hopelessness and doubt…

Maybe not everyone will understand and vibe with this but if you do, I hope this song meets you with hope. ❤️

Guys is this real!!! Tysm for all the love towards winter tides 😭

My newest single has been out for exactly 1 week and I am speechless by these numbers… I truly did not think I would hit 3k streams (I didn’t even think I would break 500!) and over 1k listeners!!! What’s crazy is only 20% of artists hit over 1k listeners on Spotify so to think out of the gazillions of artists out there I’m part of the top 20% (even though there are gazillions in this percentage too I’m sure) feels so wild.

But these numbers are nothing if not for my people. From friends who listened to it first (“uhhh do you wanna hear a song I wrote 🫣”), to bringing it to life and helping me track many many vocals, to playing it loud on speaker at the park this weekend, to 1 on 1 encouragements after listening to the song, thank you thank you thank you. I have the BEST friends. 🫶

I’ve spent years imagining this moment but it doesn’t quite feel how I expected.

Released my own song today.

No marketing plan, no budget, no social strategy to increase streams or go viral… I know, it’s marketing suizide. It’s not that I don’t care. I do a lot and put so much intention and effort into getting this song to the finish line. But now that I’m here, I’m just open handed with what happens next, if anything at all.

It feels bittersweet. Like happiness mixed with grief.

I imagine it like getting off the train at my destination and sitting there all alone wondering what’s next — will another train come to take me away?

All at once, I’ve arrived and departed.

But I’m still proud. Still so grateful.

My “one day” became “day one” today.

Of course, not alone. Thank you @samockmusic for producing this track. Thank you to my friends and family.

Grateful to be part of releasing @alabaster ‘s first worship album — 7 Last Sayings of Jesus. And to do it with some of my best friends and the most incredible humans was such a treat. 🫶

And to be featured on one of the songs, Yahweh Greatly to Be Praised, is such a gift… I’m still unsure if this is real 😭
