It is time to go Beyond the Board with Lyle Perrier of Kansas!

To me, a mentor is someone who cares deeply and works diligently to positively affect the growth and development of another individual while having little to no personal gain. My dad, Matt Perrier, is the epitome of exactly this to me and so many others. I credit my dad with teaching me many valuable lessons over the years. Some of my favorites are the value of asking intentional questions, never stopping the search for a better way, and working hard at everything I do. I truly would not be where I am today without the guidance of my dad as a mentor in my life.

Leadership runs deep in the Angus breed - built by families, strengthened by generations and carried forward by juniors who step up with purpose.

🖤 From the Satree and Sankey families to the young leaders of today, our legacy is rooted in passion, connection and a love for Angu s cattle that lasts a lifetime. Because when you’re part of the NJAA, you’re not just showing cattle — you’re continuing a tradition.

It is time to go Beyond the Board with Bryce Hofing of Indiana!

From an early age, I remember walking out the back door of my grandparents’ house with only one thing on my mind: Angus cattle. All thanks to my grandfather, Don Bloom. My grandfather was a wealth of knowledge, especially when it came to Angus cattle. If I had a question, it always seemed like he had the answer. He was someone I was truly proud to learn from—whether we were working cows, giving vaccines, or feeding a show heifer. Not only did he teach me how to farm, he taught me how to be a young man. I can wholeheartedly say that if it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be the man I am today.

💥 Introducing the NJAA’s latest Herd Pick: Madison Stratton of Appomattox, Virginia! 💥

✨ Madison went to her first NJAS in 2020, and despite the fact that show was during the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s still her favorite. “I still had a great time showing my first Angus heifer, Diva,” she says. “It’s what got me hooked on showing Angus cattle.”

✨ The best part of being in the NJAA, according to Madison, is having the opportunity to learn, grow and make long-lasting friendships.

✨ Madison says her favorite contest is the Certified Angus Beef Cookoff, because it’s fun to see all themes participants come up with and perform a skit with her friends.

✨ Having attended both Raising the Bar and LEAD conference, Madison says the most memorable was the 2025 LEAD conference that took place in Washington D.C. “I will be keeping in touch with all the friends I have made for years to come,” she says. “I also enjoyed seeing our nation's capital and visiting Angus operations in Virginia.”

✨ Madison wasn’t always the confident leader she is now, and she credits mentors Chris and Carol Wojo as well as Kyley Clevenger for that. “If it wasn’t for them, I would not be where I am today.

✨ When it comes to advice for new NJAA members, Madison has one thing to say: “Get involved! Take advantage of all the great opportunities the NJAA has to offer.”

✨ A fun fact about Madison? She once showed a cow from a cow-calf pair in showmanship and won.

🎉 Congratulations, Madison! by @jrangusassoc
