A tough summer, but got to hang with my dog and I enjoyed working from my apartment. Still drowning and still working super hard, but at least a bit more hopeful than last that change will come… but only when I eat tacos. #teacher #academic #dramaeducation #theatereducation #teachingteachers by @jrashons

UPDATE: The reality of acdemia. It’s 9pm and I just got done teaching and leaving the office. Waiting for the train, I check my email on my phone and… surprise… They sent me the wrong letter and I won’t know about if I passed my review or not until June 15th (after one other review). And for those that wondered this is my 7th year and two tenure tracks at two different universities with competely different tenure requirements… Oh and yes, one of the few men of color teaching drama education (and maybe the only in the US on a tenure track). #tenuretired #BIPOCintheAcademy #highereducation #academia by @jrashons

How the day started… vs how the day ended. Continuing a mix of emotions - centered and grateful though are emerging tonight. Had the best day teaching at the pre-conference and then attending a great event with folx in the field that I can call my contemporaries, while also sitting with and connecting to the founders of the field. Who would have ever guessed little me would be invited to this table years ago when I bravely began into the field at the age of 17. #theatreeducator #teachingartist #tya #theatreforyoungaudiences #theatreeducation #gayteacher #elementaryeducation by @jrashons

Every Sunday night after hanging with this one and working all weekend… I wonder…. Why am I still behind? Why I make less than I did 5 years ago? Why I can’t afford my rent? Why White people make my job harder and nobody does anything (without reperations!)? Why I need more credentials to advance? Why I’m penalized by White people for anything I do? Why White people (who control the system) say they care about me actually don’t want me here?!?
