It was a weekend full of meeting other bookstagrammers and obviously…books! We stayed at @campdeforestme which was absolutely stunning. Every detail was immaculate to fully immerse yourself into feeling like a summer camper. 🏕️

In full camper fashion we made s’mores around a campfire while discussing our favorite topic - books! We painted pumpkins and bedazzled. We also got to go “Trick or Treating” but instead of candy it was books.

It was so so incredible to get to meet everyone at this event. Book people are truly the best people and I am so grateful to have formed new friendships!

Rose DuBois will soon learn that someone is in fact out to hurt a “bunch of old folks” as her and her friends at her retirement village begin to be terrorized by an unknown assailant.

𝑇𝐻𝑂𝑈𝐺𝐻𝑇𝑆 💭
The Autumn Springs Retirement Home Massacre was a gruesome slasher story that dealt with a different group of victims - the elderly. The cast of characters were such a fun bunch that I found myself getting attached to them (which was a bad idea as things get rough). This book was full of dark humor alongside the mystery of the bodies piling up.

I love a good slasher and this was an incredible take on the genre. The kills were dark and unique and I could see everything unfold very cinematically. Fracassi does a great job at putting you right into the center of the drama, I felt like I was a resident at Autumn Springs alongside Rose.

This will definitely be a read that I will remember forever and will recommend it to everyone!

𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 🔪🩸

Here are some recommendations for books that have a serial killer involved! These weren’t necessarily all five stars for me but everyone has a different taste so I’m still recommending them all! Some may creep you out more than others but hopefully one will grab your attention and you can add it to your TBR! 🙌🏻

💨 THE MAN MADE OF SMOKE - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
→ an encounter with a serial killer as a kid, a criminal profiler, father/son investigation

🍂 CHASING THE BOOGEYMAN -⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
→ reads as a true-crime, a summer of missing girls, a writer returns home to the terrifying events

🤫 THE WHISPER MAN - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
→ lures victims out at night by whispering at their window, new crimes resembling a captured serial killer

🦇 BAT EATER AND OTHER NAMES FOR CORA ZENG - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
→ takes place in NYC during Covid, Asian woman are being targeted, leaves bats as a calling card

🐺 SLEEP TIGHT - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
→ sole survivor of a serial killer holds the key to a new spree of murders, has a kidnapping

🧵 WHERE HE CAN’T FIND YOU - ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
→ YA novel, a town haunted by disappearances, bodies found dismembered and sewn back together, has a kidnapping

𝒔𝒑𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒚 𝒗𝒊𝒃𝒆𝒔 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐇𝐀𝐔𝐋 🎃✨📚

I have been (surprisingly) very good at not buying books this year…up until spooky season 🤪 So naturally I felt like I should treat myself with a few new reads that I had on my radar for the month of October!

👻 THE UNKNOWN by Riley Sager
🎃 TRAPS AND SPECTERS by Philip Fracassi
🩸A COLLECTION OF HORROR by Jeneva Rose
👁️ I KNOW A PLACE by Nat Cassidy
👻 THE INVITED by Jennifer McMahon

🪦 I’ve already read 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗬 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗗 by Jennifer McMahon and I really enjoyed it! I’ll have a review soon 🤭

Although I may not remember every detail from a book long after I’ve read it, I always remember the feelings I had while reading it! The pure visceral reaction I felt during certain scenes or chapters.

All of these books are ones I’ve read over the last few years and I remember vividly getting the chills with them all. So I highly recommend, especially for this time of year!

“𝑺𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆’𝒔 𝒈𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒂 𝑺𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆!” 🎡🔎

That’s a quote the residents from the town of Seaside are used to saying. Their small town is known for 2 things, Wonderland the amusement park and scandals. Seaside is the town at the heart of both of these thriller books - HEART OF GLASS & WONDERLAND. While these both take place in the same town and Heart of Glass mentions things that happen in Wonderland, you definitely do not have to read them together (although I did read mine back to back and had a great time doing so!!).

➡️ SWIPE FOR VIBES ➡️

🎠 If you know anything about me you would know I’m a 𝙝𝙪𝙜𝙚 @jenniferhillierbooks fan. I have loved every single book she’s written and her newest one 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗚𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 was no different! If you have not read any by her I HIGHLY recommend if you’re looking for a dark & entertaining time.

✨ Have you read these? What’s your favorite Jennifer Hillier book?

🍂🎃 𝙵𝚊𝚕𝚕 𝚃𝙱𝚁 🍁🧡

As a very much mood reader, this will probably change but as of right now these are the books I’ve pulled off my shelves for this Fall season!

📸 GHOST CAMERA
🩸 THE WEIGHT OF BLOOD
🍁 IF IT MAKES YOU HAPPY
🏠 FEVER HOUSE
👩🏻 DARK SISTERS
🔎 HEAD CASES
💛 YOU, AGAIN
🔪 THE ANNIVERSARY

I have a mix of 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿, and 𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 to have some variety throughout the season. Even though let’s be real, I’m a hardcore spooky book reader all year round so not much has changed 🤪

𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬 𝐈 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝑯𝑶𝑵𝑬𝒀𝑴𝑶𝑶𝑵 🌴🍹📖

I recently went on my honeymoon to Sandals Dunns River in Ochio Rios, Jamaica and it was SO much fun. My husband and I spent our days rotating from the pool to the ocean to our own private sky pool attatched to our room. It was a dream!

One of my favorite memories was getting to just sit and relax after all of the stressful wedding planning.

I brought with me a couple reads and was able to start & finish both during my week here…

🥼 THE WOMEN IN WHITE by Sarah Pekkanen

👻 SHE’S A DOLL by Barbara Truelove

I will remember these books forever since as I will always associate them with my honeymoon and how they traveled to Jamaica with me!
