Inside the Nightly Cleaning of the 9/11 Memorial

James Maroon has devoted his life to cleaning the @911memorial eight hours a night, five nights per week. Being a New Yorker I I know that New Yorkers are the most loyal people you will ever meet.

Good Morning, stop for a moment and please take a second to remember with us….

8:46 a.m.: Hijackers deliberately crashed American Airlines Flight 11 into floors 93 through 99 of the North Tower.

9:03 a.m.: Hijackers deliberately crashed United Airlines Flight 175 into floors 77 through 85 of the South Tower.

9:37 a.m.: Hijackers deliberately crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon, near Washington, D.C.

9:59 a.m.: The South Tower collapsed.

10:03 a.m.: After learning of the other attacks, passengers on United Airlines Flight 93 launched a counterattack on hijackers aboard their plane to try to seize control of the aircraft. In response, the hijackers crashed the plane into an empty field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

10:28 a.m.: The North Tower collapsed, leaving the 16-acre World Trade Center site in ruins and collateral damage affecting all adjacent properties and streets. The rescue effort commenced immediately.

2,977 lives. 2,977 stories. 2,977 reasons to remember.

Today 25 Years later,

We remember those we lost.

We honor the heroes who ran toward danger.

We stand with the families who still carry their absence.

And we will never forget the day that changed America forever.

Today marks one year since the world lost Charlie Kirk.

From launching Turning Point USA out of a garage in Illinois, to reminding the world about the power of faith and family, Kirk rose to become one of the most influential voices in the modern conservative movement.

Known for his unfiltered campus debates, high-profile media appearances, and massive digital reach, he built a nationwide movement centered on faith, traditional values, and the courage to stand up for what you believe in.

Charlie Kirk inspired a new generation of conservatives while helping shape the broader conservative movement and political conversation across the country.

Today, his legacy lives on through his widow, Erika Kirk and their children, as he is remembered one year after his assassination. #charliekirk #tpusa #turningpoint by @jsepna

Ronald Reagan’s autobiography, An American Life, offers a candid, deeply personal window into one of the most political figures of the twentieth century. Written with his characteristic warmth and optimism, the memoir traces an extraordinary trajectory from a modest Midwestern childhood during the Great Depression to the peak of global power. Reagan grounds his story in early hardship, detailing how his small-town roots, his father’s personal struggles, and his own work as a lifeguard forged a lifelong faith in individual potential. He captures his dynamic evolution across media and public service, moving from a radio sports broadcaster calling Cubs games to a Hollywood actor and head of the Screen Actors Guild, where his political views were forged in the crucible of labor negotiations. That experience catapulted him into politics, leading to two transformative terms as Governor of California where he tackled campus unrest and state budget crises, laying the groundwork for his presidential agenda. Assuming the presidency in 1981, Reagan confronted a nation paralyzed by high inflation, economic stagflation, and tense international standoffs with Iran and Russia. Yet, the emotional heart of his narrative lies in his diplomatic dance with Soviet General Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev, detailing the high-stakes summitry that turned cold hostility into historic nuclear disarmament. Above all, the book shines through Reagan’s fundamental belief in the unique nature of American identity, famously captured in his belief that “You can live in Turkey, Japan, or Ireland, but you cannot become a Turk, a Japanese, or an Irishman. But anyone from any corner of the earth can come to America and become an American.” Rich with statecraft, personal grit, and unyielding patriotism, An American Life remains a compelling read for anyone seeking to understand the man who reshaped modern conservative politics and helped end the Cold War. by @jsepna

Finally, I read In So Help Me God; my mother actually gifted it to me for Christmas 2023.Wwhat stands out most is how Mike Pence reflects on how his Christian faith and allegiance to the U.S. Constitution directly shape his political convictions, opening each chapter with a passage of Scripture that serves as a prelude to his life's stories. His narrative spans generations, tracing his family's roots from his grandfather's immigration from Ireland all the way to Pence's own tenure as Vice President of the United States. Along the way, he vividly recounts serving Indiana in Congress during the heartbreaking events of 9/11, highlighting a poignant moment when he later visited the site with his children to pay tribute to the courageous men and women who lost their lives that day. Capturing his major political accomplishments as Governor of Indiana and as Vice President, the memoir builds toward January 6th, where Pence details his resolve to fulfill his sacred constitutional obligation to certify the election despite immense political pressure. Ultimately, it creates a deeply personal reflection on how faith, constitutional principles, and family heritage guided his public service. by @jsepna
